I am a retired professional print journalist with more than 40 years of media experience, an advanced degree in journalism and two books published to date. I hold journalism degrees from both the University of Wisconsin-Madison (BS) and Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism (MS). I have written for print media including the Chicago Tribune, the Wisconsin State Journal, the Northwest Herald and a variety of business and trade publications throughout my career. I have published two non-fiction books to date.

In addition to being a journalist and author, I am a researcher, a mentor and a public speaker. My specialties are economic development, entrepreneurship (particularly small business development) and government. I believe in a free, objective press; clear, relatable writing; and access to educational resources and reliable information for all.
