I am a freelance historical geographer, who provides independent research to museums, universities and the wider heritage and leisure industry. I have been based in the UK, Canada and Hong Kong SAR, China. In the past I have curated exhibitions for the National Maritime Museum (UK), the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), the Chung-Lind Gallery at UBC (Vancouver, Canada), the Bin Jelmood House (Doha, Qatar) and the National Museum of Qatar (Doha, Qatar). I have also contributed to exhibitions at the Museum of Anthropology (Vancouver, BC, Canada), the London Museum (UK), Bexley Heritage Trust (London, UK) and the The University of Hong Kong Museum and Gallery (Hong Kong SAR, China).

I hold a BA(Hons) in Geography and Asian Studies from the Ulster University (Northern Ireland), and an MRes(Distinction) from the University of Chichester (England) in History and African Studies. I have also been:

I specialise in sensitive and difficult narratives and have published and been recognised internationally for my work on the Bombay Africans, slavery and the English Country House, the Goan Diaspora, Chinese and Indian crewmen in World War One, the African presence in Southeast Asia. The Pano de Terra narratives of the Cape Verde islands and the sandalwood trade in Southeast Asia.
