The Local Innovation Awards Scheme (formerly known as the Beacon Scheme[1]) is an award scheme that was established in 1999 by the Government of the United Kingdom, which attempted to highlight examples of best practice in certain English local government public bodies (specifically Best value bodies, such as local authority's, town or parish council's or police authorities), and to allow sharing of these practices to other bodies.
