Template:Welcome-delete
Welcome!
[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions have removed content without an explanation. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia: click on the
Introduction link to get started!
Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
Do not use AI chatbots or large language models when editing Wikipedia. Their use is nearly always prohibited.
Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
Maintain a neutral point of view.
Take particular care while writing about a living person. Controversial and negative statements must be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
Don't edit war or abuse multiple accounts.
If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
Do not add advertising, promotional messages, or text that is not related to an article's subject.
Use talk pages to discuss article improvements, but not as a forum for general discussions.
If you have any questions, ask them on the Teahouse or on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!
| Any breaking changes to this template, including moving it or nominating it for deletion, must be communicated in advance to Twinkle's users and maintainers at Wikipedia talk:Twinkle. The standard installation of Twinkle relies on this template. Thank you. |
This template should always be substituted – use {{subst:Welcome-delete}}. Any accidental transclusions will be automatically substituted by a bot. |
| This is a customized wrapper for the {{Welcomelaws}} template, which means it's built upon the other template's code. All parameters from {{Welcomelaws}} will work here. |
Usage
[edit]Used to warn new editors that they have blanked a page or removed content without stating a reason and/or gaining consensus.
{{subst:Welcome-delete|article name (optional)}} ~~~~
You can also use ordinal parameter 3 or named parameter br (for bad reason) set to yes, true or similar to indicate that there was a reason provided for the removal of content, but it was insufficient:
{{subst:Welcome-delete|article name (optional)|br=bad reason (set to yes or true if wanted))}} ~~~~
