- This color should not be merged because I just added a second tone of the color to the article. Keraunos (talk) 23:31, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
| On 27 May 2025, it was proposed that this article be moved from Wine (color) to Wine red. The result of the discussion was moved. |

[edit]There's another Wine color entry.--Maulucioni (talk) 20:59, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
- Nope, not the same at all. That's about the differences between red and white wines, and from where red wines get their color; it's an article about wine, the drink, discussing one of its main properties. This is about a widely used color named for the drink because of its resemblance. Entirely different. oknazevad (talk) 21:59, 4 July 2018 (UTC)

I don't see any evidence that this color is discussed in this article and plan to delete it from the list per this discussion: Talk:List_of_colors#New_approach_to_review_of_entries
If someone decides that this color should have a section in this article and it is added, I would appreciate a ping.--S Philbrick(Talk) 20:51, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

Wine (color) → Wine red – Very common name and we get rid of the brackets. Blockhaj (talk) 14:46, 27 May 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. Valorrr (lets chat) 15:52, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- Lean Support. The current title is potentially confused with wine color. The proposed title could similarly be confused with red wine, but less likely so, and a hatnote could be added. Mdewman6 (talk) 21:22, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- Unaware of that one. It strengthenes my case here imo, but if we do not move, then maybe wine color should be moved to Color (wine characteristic) or something like that. Blockhaj (talk) 22:48, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- In that case, I'd probably prefer color of wine. Mdewman6 (talk) 22:56, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- Weak support. I was on the fence but I do find some support for wine red on Ngram and in a couple of dictionaries.[1][2] I'm not convinced it's a terribly common name but probably common enough to be recognizable and natural and it avoids parenthetical disambiguation.--MYCETEAE 🍄🟫—talk 19:13, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- It should be noted that wine red is very common in other languages: German: Weinrot, Swedish: vinröd, Afrikaans: wynrooi, Finnish: viininpunainen etc. Blockhaj (talk) 22:47, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- Interestingly, several dictionaries suggest hyphenated wine-red as an adjective and/or claret as a translation for German weinrot[3][4] [5] and do not seem to recognize it as a noun. Ultimately this doesn't tell us what the title of this article should be on English Wikipedia, although I think it does suggest wine red is not all the common in English, which was my sense coming into this. --MYCETEAE 🍄🟫—talk 23:11, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- Not overly common no, but it is not hard to grasp from the onset and not as faint of a title as we have now. Blockhaj (talk) 02:55, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

- Support to diambiguate from wine color as above but also as it's more of a common name. orangesclub 🍊 05:33, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- Support. Yes, ok, per nom. Moscow Mule (talk) 02:46, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
