I have noticed that Taryll Jackson has been added as a member of the group in the Infobox and the Timeline in the Band members section. It leads to this question: "Is Taryll a member of the Jacksons?" Despite being noted as a touring member, the only sources provided are that of Instagram and YouTube which should not be used per WP:SOCIALMEDIA and WP:RSPYT. I am unable to find any sources that explicitly state that he is a member of the Jacksons. Are there any thoughts on this? As Taryll is a touring member as the Band members section implies heavily on, he should not be included in the Infobox nor the timeline. HorrorLover555 (talk) 17:25, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The Jackson 5 are most known for their early years, including with #1 records "I Want You Back" "ABC" "The Love You Save" and "I'll Be There", but we can't use the old photo because Randy was not in the Jackson 5 in 1974. I suggest we go back to the original 1972 photo before it was changed in February.

You can't have a photo of six men to represent a band that was well-known for having five members. The clue's in the name. On a more technical level, Randy and Jermaine were never in the band simultaneously; the departure of Jermaine came about because of the signing of the Epic contract - Jermaine was married to Hazel Gordy, daughter of Motown's founder Berry Gordy, and so was tied to Motown in a non-musical way. Motown owned the name "Jackson 5", so a new name had to be chosen before signing the Epic contract. It could be said that Jackie, Marlon, Michael and Tito all left the Jackson 5 (leaving Jermaine as the only member) in order to form a new band, The Jacksons, with Randy. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:52, 26 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
That's true but that argument about having six members for a band that has Five in its name falls apart very quickly, like Maroon 5. They do not have 5, they have 6, just like the Jacksons. However I do agree the 1972 photo is better ElhamHusey (talk) 04:39, 27 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I'm kinda torn here. I feel like not using the 1984 image is a huge missed opportunity. It's just a gut feeling. Inclusion, y'know ElhamHusey (talk) 04:52, 27 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
