UK Chart Position

[edit]

The article currently says it was 25 and the reference isn't helpful. According to the official charts site, it reached 45 (http://www.officialcharts.com/artist/5387/taylor-swift/). Unless someone can find a source that says it did reach 25, I will change the position to 45 and put in my reference.

Hi, me again, I'll be reviewing this one. Expect a decently fast turnaround with this one—I'm already going through the prose. λ NegativeMP1 00:03, 28 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Prose

[edit]
  • "she re-recorded the song as "Sweeter than Fiction (Taylor's Version)" and included it in the physical Tangerine Edition of 1989 (Taylor's Version) (2023)" so was it exclusive to this specific version? Might help to add "exclusive" to make that more clear. The part of the main body that covers this detail is fine though
  • "Swift performed "Sweeter than Fiction" live for the first time, in a mashup with "Holy Ground", at the Eras Tour concert on July 6, 2024, in Amsterdam" Personally, I'm iffy on if I'd consider a mashup to be a true, full performance of a song. I would personally reword this. However, I know other Swift articles count the mashups anyways, so your call.
  • "Sheffield and Vulture's Nate Jones ranked it among the lower-tier of rankings of Swift's entire catalog" I think the spots where this song ranked should be specified.
    • Also consider incorporating NME's ranking spot into the prose if this is done
  • The article is missing a Personnel section.

Media

[edit]
  • There's only one file in this article, and it's the cover art which is justified. Although two things:
    • Is there a photo of Swift performing the mash-up on the Eras Tour?
    • Is there any potential for an audio sample to be added to the article? I think it'd help improve a readers understanding of the song but I'm not sure if there's a WP:FAIRUSE case or not. Again, your call.

Sourcing

[edit]
  • All sources currently in the article are reliable.
  • Spotchecked specific uses of references #3, as well as #23 and #25. No issues.

Round #2

[edit]

Based on article additions made by Medxvo after the above were posted and addressed.

  • I'm 50/50 on if two infoboxes are needed. I know some of the re-recorded songs do, but I recall that being mainly when the re-recording gets a dedicated section. Since y'all are definitely more familiarized with Swift article norms than I am, what's the standard on this?
    • Not sure if there is a standard, but for Swift's re-recorded "Taylor's Version" songs there are almost always a second infobox to display information such as different producers, studios etc. I initially removed the "Taylor's Version" for this song because the re-recording did not chart at all, but I'm 50/50 too. Ippantekina (talk) 02:45, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    • I think almost all of Swift's articles have a second infobox for the re-recording, so readers may find it confusing that this article lacks one. The albums, release dates, and studios are also different. Medxvo (talk) 08:05, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Critics compared "Sweeter than Fiction" to the music of the Bangles, the Go-Go's, the Killers, Tom Petty, and Twin Shadow." Critics, to me, implies that multiple critics compared to the song to works by these bands, when it was only one for the first two and a separate one for the last three I would personally just name the critics that made these comparisons.
  • I've never seen a review box included on articles for individual songs or singles, not even on Swift's most popular singles. Is there a music editing guideline about this?
  • No questioning about the new sources added, although I wonder if Sheffield's original review comments should be put in here.
  • Checked two more sources to compensate for the expansion, #4 and #12. No issues found.
  • The new sample added to the article has a proper fair use rationale and seems appropriate.

Final comments

[edit]

As always, great work with this one! I don't have many complaints. I'll be placing this on hold to give you time to address my above comments. λ NegativeMP1 00:37, 28 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review! I'll have limited internet access in the next 3 days so pls wait till I come back and I’ll address all comments then :) Cheers, Ippantekina (talk) 02:44, 29 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No worries! Take all the time you need. λ NegativeMP1 03:07, 29 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@NegativeMP1: thanks for your patience, I've addressed all prose points you have. I don't think the sample is necessary, and I am unable to find personnel credits even on Apple Music... Ippantekina (talk) 11:13, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi guys, I just noticed that this article is at GAN and thought I should add some stuff that I wrote months ago. Thought I should let you know in case NegativeMP1 has additional comments regarding my additions (feel free to ping me if so). Happy New Year's Eve! Medxvo (talk) 16:08, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay these seem like decently substantial upgrades (or maybe the infobox pushed some stuff to make it seem bigger). I'll look shortly. λ NegativeMP1 16:47, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Update: I also added a sample because I think we have enough information regarding the song's composition and that it would be helpful for readers. Thanks, NegativeMP1! Medxvo (talk) 17:12, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Did a quick round two of comments based on Medxvo's additions. Sorry for the mild wait all day, New Year's stuff. @Ippantekina and Medxvo:, see above. λ NegativeMP1 02:41, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks NegativeMP1, Happy New Year! Medxvo (talk) 08:05, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, it seems everything I put above has been addressed and I don't think there's any remaining issues left with this article, I'll be passing this, good job to the both you! λ NegativeMP1 16:59, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong lyrics quoted

[edit]

The lyrics quoted for the chorus are not correct, the official lyrics (at least as they are inside the tangerine vinyl) are "there you'll stand" not "then you stand". I'm having a hard time finding a source that quotes them correctly, and am not sure if just sourcing the album, like you would when you cite liner notes, would constitute original research or not.
