This article was the subject of an educational assignment in 2014 Q1. Further details were available on the "Education Program:Queen Mary, University of London/Research Methods (Film) (Spring 2014)" page, which is now unavailable on the wiki.
On 27 March 2023, it was proposed that this article be moved to Shrek (film). The result of the discussion was no consensus.
the shrek was also released on Gameboy Advance Video, but it isnt listed in the Home Video release section. in shrek 2 wiki its listed but on this shrek 1 it isnt here. should it be added ?
Briefly noted in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_French_Angel is the rumor that acromegaliac Russo-French wrestler Maurice Tillet served as the basis for Shrek's appearance. The change in appearance from both the illustration in Steig's book and the "I Feel Good" test video to Shrek's appearance in the actual movies does make one wonder if the "new-look" Shrek in the movies didn't have some pre-existing model. The cited Wikipedia article in turn cites https://www.huffpost.com/entry/real-life-shrek-inspiration-maurice-tillet-french-angel-photos_n_6391422 "Despite the uncanny physical similarities between Tillet and Shrek, DreamWorks -- the studio which released the film -- has never officially addressed the long-standing rumor that Tillet's appearance served as the basis for the animated character. A spokesman at the company did not immediately return a request for comment from The Huffington Post." Should this be included in the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.174.127.222 (talk) 16:04, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
"Entertainment Weekly put it on its end-of-the-decade, "best-of" list" (i) change "it" to "Shrek" (or "the film") since this is a new section and we should reintroduce the referent; (ii) remove the incorrect comma before "best-of" (since "best-of list" is a fixed noun phrase: you couldn't reverse "a recent best-of list" to "a best-of recent list" so you can't use a comma as you might in "big, green aliens").
"Such elements can be seen in films like Robots, Chicken Little, Doogal, and Ron's Gone Wrong and more recently with Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken and The Tiger's Apprentice." Insert "and" where shown in bold: it needs to say "films like X, Y and Z, and more recently with..." or else the grammar is incorrect (you can't just say "films like X, Y, Z", and "with" doesn't fix it).
