Is RTI still important?

[edit]

As the article says "A high RTI or good axle articulation is essential for good off road performance on severe routes if the vehicle has open diffs" Modern vehicles have various forms of locking diffs and traction control, so the original absolute need for RTI has gone away - if a vehicle with open diffs lifts a wheel it can't move forward, whereas a vehicle with a modern driveline will apply power to the other wheels. As to bragging rights a google search reveals this a widely used expression on off roading communities eg https://www.drivingline.com/articles/go-topless-its-a-jeep-thing/ Greglocock (talk) 00:28, 16 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
