Tentacled monsters
[edit]@ConanHighwoods, WP:UGC says that wikis like the Rain World wiki is unreliable, a significant guideline described in WP:RS. I do not want to edit war, so I kindly ask that you revert your edit yourself as it is against guidelines. Tarlby (t) (c) 03:27, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
- The fact that RW has multiple and significant tentacled monsters is easily verified by the wiki and a quick search online. The wiki is linked in the RW article, as the official wiki no less, so I see no problem with citing a wiki linked on the article itself. In fact the Tentacles/tentacle monsters in fiction tag is more accurate than the cats in fiction tag as slugcats are not even cats. I see no need in removing legit information from an article. I ask you to please not revert the edit as I have given sufficient proof that the tag belongs on the RW article. In fact, I will see if I can add link or so more to give even more proof. - I added another citation. You can actually see the tentacled beings in question...in action. There is no reason to doubt this now. Reversing it at this point would be ridiculous. ConanHighwoods (talk) 04:28, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
- @ConanHighwoods WP:V and WP:RS are long-standing policies that should be followed. These sources you've cited are both wikis and are user-generated, making them unreliable and unfit for use. Please remove them. Whether the information is "true" or not doesn't matter as Wikipedia relies on secondary, reliable sources to provide its content. If you wish to keep the citations, I'll ask for assistance at WP:3O to see what someone there thinks. Tarlby (t) (c) 04:34, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
- The third opinion request is now listed. Tarlby (t) (c) 04:59, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

| Tarlby is entirely correct that per WP:UGC, wikis are never reliable sources. However, if it is true that the game includes these creatures, it might be possible for a user to take a screenshot of the creature and use that as a source via WP:ABOUTSELF. However, the copyright issues are problematic (MOS:VGIMAGES) and it's generally unclear if the image would be WP:DUE for inclusion given that no reliable sources have commented on this creature. As a result, there is no reason to include the tentacled monsters in the description, because not everything that's true needs to be included in Wikipedia (WP:TRUTH and WP:VNOT). The Watcher's importance
[edit]@~2025-38139-80, is it best if you do not add the Watcher plot. Trust me when I say I've scoured all over Google trying to find good reliable sources covering the Watcher, and barely any of them cover it at all. Per WP:UNDUE, a plot section on the Watcher is overwhelming for the article considering how little it is even mentioned, and it's another problem that an esoteric and unclear plot like that of the Watcher doesn't have any sources to interpret it. post-apocaliptic game category?
[edit]i mean, i see the similarity, but can you really call it "post-apocaliptic" if there wasnt some extreme event that caused significant damage? the world wasnt destroyed by any sudden event, its just that the Ancients abandoned it in order to ascend. All of the damage to structures in the game took a long time to happen and were caused by nature, animals and heavy rain caused by the iterators in their immediate vecinity.
Apocalypse implies that a sudden event caused the end of the world, youd expect a post-apocaliptic game to be about that, rather than a world that just got abandoned. Amathecutie (talk) 00:41, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Amathecutie, categories are applied based on how sources describe the subject. The game isn't actually post-apocalyptic, but that's how critics interpreted it, so we have to run with it. toby (t)(c)(rw)(omo) 01:12, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
