Please add the following sentences to the section that discusses Thiel's Roth IRA:

In 2014 Peter Thiel and Jeffrey Epstein exchanged emails discussing tax strategies. In response to a question about the value of the Roth IRA from Epstein, Thiel responded that his Roth IRA is "somewhere over 2 [billion dollars]".

Not done That appears to be a primary source. Can you find reliable secondary sources supporting those claims? WeyerStudentOfAgrippa (talk) 18:05, 14 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
If it's a primary source, does that not mean it's entirely valid? Secondary sources are most likely going off the information provided by the primary source anyway. Annoymous editor (talk) 05:54, 24 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

That's correct, it would not be entirely valid. See WP:BLPPRIMARY. WeyerStudentOfAgrippa (talk) 16:01, 24 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Mention move to Argentina

[edit]

it appears he is in the process of moving to Argentina due to concerns over the United State's future, I think this might be notable enough to mention not sure https://www.nytimes.com/2026/05/28/world/americas/peter-thiel-argentina.html ~2026-31726-50 (talk) 22:35, 28 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

No, totally sensational from NYT. I assure you South American media overwhelmingly talks about projects related to politics and business regarding this matter. He has also bought *5* (not one like what the NYT says) lots of land in Maldonado, Uruguay. Has met at least 4 presidents (Argentina, Paraguay, Ecuador, Uruguay... the latter two in secret) and lots of officials and businessmen. There was talk about defense, data, nuclear, satellites, rare earths.

Citation count.

[edit]

By "[the article is] cited for 3 times", I meant that the paper has a citation count of 3 on T&F's website. That is very, very low for an article published 9 months ago. 海盐沙冰 / aka irisChronomia / Talk 18:08, 11 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I mean, the focus of such papers is narrow (try the other pieces that mention Peter Thiel or Silicon Valley ideology or whatever. Do you want to see the usual citation numbers for my area?), and I think that Wikipedia requires sources to be reputable and reliable and being a published academic article is already much better than many sources we have. If you talk about being discussed by other sources, actually the Fortune article (leading intellectual) is discussed by other sources widely, so whether Fortune is highly regarded for describing intellectuals or not, that part is considered by other sources to be remarkable. Deamonpen (talk) 23:02, 11 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
My take is that the introductory section to a BLP might require more due weight than body text. The dilemma may be that, when many journal papers from many fields have a take on a given subject, it may be hard for a paper to stand out. 海盐沙冰 / aka irisChronomia / Talk 23:08, 11 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
My take is that other articles which are not even academic carry less weight that that article. Anyway I expect such policy to be cited.---Deamonpen (talk) 00:34, 12 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Paolo Benanti, not Matheo Malik

[edit]

The original piece clearly cites auteur: Paolo Benanti. https://legrandcontinent.eu/fr/2026/03/14/thiel-heresie-benanti/

And other articles which discuss this also refers to Benanti and often explicitly mention that part (political theologian):

Reuter

Irish Independent

Fortune

Global Catholic

Some others that cite the heretic part

The Times

The Press

Some articles that mention Antonio Spadaro's opinion on Peter Thiel's Antichrist talk, for reference

Present tense use

[edit]

deamonpen got your ping in edit summary, thanks. reviewed religious views section, which has also mushroomed since we last discussed this (archive 4). in most bios this section is under personal life so I d still move it. Another problem that has cropped up is the permanent use of present tense, which is disingenious as time moves on. it is as silly as writing today or this year as things evolve ( refs for the relig view section span 10 years !) . i wish we could have an AI program to scrub it. have no time to edit right now. Wuerzele (talk) 12:12, 13 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for replying.Yes, normally it is personal life in most bios but if critics see the subject as "someone" in religious thinking, I think it is fair to move it up there. As they said themselves, Vatican wouldn't react to every provocation (although I personally suspect that they also react to him because as the Libero Quotidiano writes, they see him as someone "represents the technological and financial powers of AI and the current American administration". Recently leaders have talked quite openly about the power or political role of Thiel). As far as I know Thiel's concept of the Antichrist has not evolved much (he started this a long time ago, but the materials here are collected from recent events and so are the commentaries of the critics). The 2011 part uses the past tense - not written by me or a recent user. Although as a non-native English speaker, sometimes I don't pay much attention to tenses myself, but I have a tendency to write that "publication X writes that" even if this happened 200 years ago - using the literary present or historical present, because once the sentence or the work comes out, it is eternal itself and speaks to whoever opens it as such, instead of focusing on the act of the dead person who wrote it.
I have just tried Google Search/books with the phrase "in this play, Shakespeare" and all the first results are present tense:
-"In this play , Shakespeare experiments with a tragedy organized around a decentred titular figure..." (This is Shakespeare, Emma Smith, 2020, Pantheon Books)
-"In this play Shakespeare is far less tolerant of the follies and vices of humanity than he had been earlier..." (William Shakespeare's As You Like It, Ratri Ray, 2008, Atlantic)
-"In this play Shakespeare constructs a division between Theseus's court with its formality, order and law, and the forest where love and desire run free (and mad)."
(Shakespearean Fantasy and Politics, Thomas Betteridge, 2005, University of Hertfordshire Press)
-"In this play, Shakespeare makes his first bold , characteristic , important moral assumption...." (The New Oxford Shakespeare: The Complete Works, William Shakespeare, ‎Gary Taylor, ‎John Jowett, · 2016, Oxford University Press) Deamonpen (talk) 13:21, 13 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Chess

[edit]

I am not wiki user so, I am uncertain on the protocol for changes but In the chess section the quote and footnote to 573 is not what the article says or implies. ~2026-34961-62 (talk) 22:23, 13 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
