- I removed this paragraph as it seems factually inacurate and does not relate to the prior paragraph in any way.Gblaz 21:03, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Spilt Ethnicity and Government
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- The result of this discussion, after a more than five weeks, was to not split the article. Yuchitown (talk) 01:15, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
This article contains both the government and ethnic group of the Narragansett Tribe together, which looking to other articles such as the Navajo people and Navajo Nation, two separate articles, which to a draftspace, splitting the topics of the people and the tribal reservation government only seems fair. The reservation may not be big, but neither is Lichtenstein, just because its small doesn't mean the topics have to be crammed together into one article. - SnowieLuna1212 (talk) 18:30, 23 August 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. Not all Navajo people are part of the Navajo Nation, some are enrolled in the Colorado River Indian Tribes. The Narragansett are like the Kiowa or Quapaw, where there is only one tribe. This article is not too long and could easily be cleaned up more. If people agreed that they wanted a split, the logical new article would be Narragansett Indian Tribe, not the reservation. Yuchitown (talk) 18:45, 24 August 2025 (UTC)
- Additionally, what is the logic behind peeling away sections like the list of 17th and 18th-century sachems to the proposed reservation page? Yuchitown (talk) 18:53, 24 August 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. I wouldn't necessarily oppose that split, but like Yuchi said, the two are basically synonymous. There should be a section on the page for the Narragansett Indian tribe, and if that gets too big, then it can be split. Similarly, there should be a section (or subsection, perhaps under a broader "land base" section that discusses modern land base (reservation and tribally-owned lands) and historic lands) that discusses the reservation, but it shouldn't need to be its own article unless there is too much to put in the main. Bottom line, the article could probably be organized better. PersusjCP (talk) 06:00, 25 September 2025 (UTC)
Organization
[edit]I tried to improve the organization of the article by making "culture" and "language" their own sections and moving 21st-century topics out of the "history" section. The uncited "List of Narragansett sachems" table could be made into a simple list that would take up less space. Yuchitown (talk) 01:32, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
