Requesting this edit to be reverted;
- No reliable source can be found for this claim.
- Current revision doesn't have any citation.
- Even cited source, cites an organization called EUCI for the proposed legislation. EUCI isn't European Union
- however EUCI get funded by Ethereum foundation.[1] They may have COI.
Throat0390 (talk) 20:49, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
- I have removed it. Info which lacks a reliable source and which is challenged should, in general, just be removed. Note that I'm the one who switched the unreliable source for a 'citation needed' tag. If a reliable source can be found for this, we could evaluate from there. Unfair representation of Monero usage
[edit]The section describing uses for Monero almost exclusively focuses on activities that can get you arrested, but this is a misleading representation. For example, this Reddit user's friend sells alcoholic products in return for Monero, and the GrapheneOS team accepts donations in Monero. GrinningIodize (talk) 02:24, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
- Neither of those are reliable sources. A 'Reddit user's friend' allowing payments in Monero is nothing. A non-profit allowing donations in a several cryptos is also nothing. Grayfell (talk) 03:28, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, but the point is that Monero is being misrepresented here. There's got to be a better way to write that section. It's not about the specific legitimate use-cases; those are just a few examples that I can easily find online. GrinningIodize (talk) 20:09, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
- This article, like most articles, should mainly just summarize reliable, independent sources. To be blunt, those examples are chump-change compared to government-backed ransomware or large darknet markets. It's obvious why reliable sources haven't bothered reporting on stuff like that. If you do find any sources, feel free to post them here. Grayfell (talk) 22:20, 13 August 2025 (UTC)

51% attack fears?

- See WP:COINDESK Retimuko (talk) 05:09, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- It's worth noting that most major media outlets are not covering things from a Monero user's perspective, and they have a financial incentive to produce alarmist articles that reinforce the prejudices that are already commonly held (for example, that Monero is somehow illegal or dangerous to society). Add getmonero.org's hidden service. Bcwuerbvwurbvkw (talk) 19:19, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want made. Please note that 'getmonero.org' is not, itself, a reliable source, so an independent source will be needed. Grayfell (talk) 19:48, 22 January 2026 (UTC)

- Hi, welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for your edit request. Just a quick note that additions need to be supported by reliable, independent sources per WP:V. If you can provide a suitable source, the request can be reconsidered. ◦ Sibshops (talk) 20:27, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- Its a link, tor.taxi has the link, is tor.taxi is a reliable independent source? i hope so Bcwuerbvwurbvkw (talk) 20:34, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- No. Please review Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Grayfell (talk) 20:37, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- then it looks there is gonna be no edit. its a link to moneros site, not a study. Bcwuerbvwurbvkw (talk) 20:40, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not a directory of links, it's also not a platform for promotion or advocacy.
- As for 'getmonero'org' being Monero's site, as a source, it needs to be evaluated on its own merits. If nobody is taking responsibility for the info on that website, and they aren't, it's not a reliable source. Grayfell (talk) 21:02, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
