See Also link country annotations
[edit]@Gasiseda: Ref your reversion of my use of a template to provide the country of origin of the similar missiles in the "See also" section. Per MOS:SEEALSO "Editors should provide a brief annotation when a link's relevance is not immediately apparent, when the meaning of the term may not be generally known, or when the term is ambiguous."
While it is fairly obvious that the links will go to other missile systems, probably Korean, one of them appears to be a French Crotale variant. Do you have a policy or guideline reason for not doing this, as your edit note didn't seem to provide one. {{annotated link}} is another way of doing this, but it will mostly have redundant information. - It is true that K-SAM is based on French Crotale missiles, but most of the systems are developed or produced in South Korea, so it seems misleading to simply conclude that it is French-made. If you want to distinguish between Korean and French for the clarity of the article being linked, I think just adding one word, Crotale, on the right would be enough.
- In order to reduce this confusion, I think it is better to separate the contents of K-SAM and write it as an article. Gasiseda (talk) 23:21, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
Historical Context on Development (Russian Cooperation and Seeker)
[edit]I have updated the "Development" and "Guidance" sections using a contemporary source from December 2011 (Army Recognition), reporting on the M-SAM's public unveiling.
- Rationale
- While the article is accurate regarding the final system, it lacked specific details on the program's origins and technological basis. The added information clarifies:
- 1. The foundational cooperation involving the Russian S-400 system (specifically radar downsizing).
- 2. The missile propulsion system's basis in the Russian 9M96 missile.
- 3. The original 2013 deployment schedule and the early planning phase for the ballistic interceptor (Block-II).
- 4. The placement of the active radar seeker at the missile's head.
These details provide necessary historical context for understanding the M-SAM's design lineage.Lehrling18 (talk) 20:46, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
