New Possible Link/Reference

[edit]

This article https://features.wearemel.com/the-strange-case-of-the-man-with-no-name-13691028e07e#.x5w2fyvzb just came out and may have something to contribute (and may conflict with a fact or two) if anyone is interested. Mmcknight4 (talk) 02:40, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bus?

[edit]

I thought that the local bus drivers did not recognise him and know one knew how he got to the motel.--95.145.91.231 (talk) 09:46, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Real name

[edit]

At some point, I didn't know this happened, but people found out his actual name. Should the name of this page be changed? HauntingStomper (talk) 18:19, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

it absolutely should be, and should be added to the page. Keywork26 (talk) 03:17, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

His family didn’t want him to be publicly identified, so I would say no. Afheather (talk)

Unless there’s another source beyond FindAGrave, I’d say no. If there is one, I would say yes. TheXuitts (talk) 21:45, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

FindaGrave and Heavy.com are both not reliable sources; details sourced to those sites should not be included. Nikkimaria (talk) 04:43, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

then cite the yearbooks that were used to source Find A Grave. But those are physical, in an archive in California. Keywork26 (talk) 21:49, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How do you anticipate the yearbooks in California would support claims about who the subject here was? Nikkimaria (talk) 01:25, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
because they do? They're very clearly the same person. Could also use the records of him at UC Berkeley. We have high school and college records that confirm his identity. Keywork26 (talk) 02:52, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How do these records prove that the person who is represented in the high school and college records is the same person who is described in this article? Nikkimaria (talk) 04:44, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
well, besides again the photos being identical, his entire family tree is public info, and you can cross reference his date of death etc. with Lyle's (Christian's). His high school classmates did confirm it's him on Facebook, but of course that's not as reputable a source as public records. Keywork26 (talk) 05:19, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The photo of the subject here looking like a photo in an old yearbook, or someone sharing a date of death with the subject here, are not sufficient to assert they are the same person - that would be original research. We need an actual, reliable, source that makes that claim. Nikkimaria (talk) 05:30, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see how Ancestry isn't reliable. If Heavy did have an article about it (not sure why you mentioned them), that should be sufficient too, as a reputable news source. But anyway, Lyle is Christian Emiliano Lacunza from Union City, California. We have his siblings' names, his parents' names, etc. Keywork26 (talk) 18:58, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
See the explanations on this page - we need a reliable source that explicitly says they are the same person. Nikkimaria (talk) 22:26, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
good thing I provided those then. Keywork26 (talk) 20:41, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What sources specifically say that? Nikkimaria (talk) 20:45, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The ones you think are unreliable, obviously. Keywork26 (talk) 20:48, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So again, we need a reliable source that says that before we can include it. Nikkimaria (talk) 20:49, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How do you define reliable? Keywork26 (talk) 21:01, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
See the reliable sources guideline - user-generated sources like Find a Grave would not qualify. Nikkimaria (talk) 21:11, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Of course one can also obtain his reissued death certificate. Keywork26 (talk) 03:12, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
