I recommend moving all references to the "bident" as part of Hades' iconography to a new sentence at the end of the "Artistic representations" section. There is, to my knowledge (as a Ph.D. professor of Classics with a specialty in Roman literature, not Greek art) no ancient depiction of Hades with a bident. The source cited in n. 5 is an encyclopedia by a self-described "vampirologist" and RPG designer, whose characterization of the bident as part of Hades' iconography matches modern-day depictions of Hades, but not ancient, and the source cited in n. 100 makes no mention of the bident, only roosters etc. ~2026-31175-91 (talk) 05:34, 25 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for pointing this out. I've removed the claim about bidents, as well as the book by Bane (her works have been causing problems on Greek mythology articles for years). – Michael Aurel (talk) 08:01, 26 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
