Aero India 2025 images?

[edit]

The recent Aero India 2025 show saw a 1:1 mockup of the AMCA being displayed; this is much more realistic than previous depictions and many images are already floating around. Does someone have a pic to upload to commons, and then use here? HalfdanRagnarsson (talk) 09:45, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Wording of the article

[edit]

There is an awful lot of "will". Mind you this hasn't been developed as a fighter yet and as of now is a concept.

Therefore should the wording be changed to conditional phrasing such as "is expected to have" or "projected to have" rather than just flat out saying it "will"? DarkPhantom23 (talk) 18:11, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I just took out one egregious instance of this before I even saw your comment here. The wording should not be definitive statements if the underlying claim is speculative -- if it's "projected to have" there needs to be a projection verifying this. If it's "expected to have", there needs to be a statement as to whom expects this. Otherwise, for instances where we're talking about plans, we need to be explicit that these are plans, intentions, or otherwise future development claims. I feel like the use of the word "will" excessively is incredibly asinine considering they're all projected specifications. On other articles on future aircraft in development the wording is completely different:
In the F-47 article there are quotes from governmental officials attributing the alleged specifications of the aircraft, therefore it isn't a conclusive statement.
In the J-35 (a plane currently in serial production) rightfully has it's alleged specifications being attributed to a quote from it's parents company.
But for some reason the wording of the HAL AMCA article makes it seem as if every single design feature of the AMCA itself is conclusive. For example:
"At present, the AMCA is planned as a fifth generation fighter but will integrate emerging, best-of-breed sixth-generation technologies over time."
"The AMCA will have some sixth generation characteristics such as an optionally crewed, directed energy weapons, capable of controlling UCAVs, and swarm drones."
"As of October 2022, designers are still in the process of refining the radar deflection capability of AMCA. It will also use radar-absorbent materials wherever necessary."
"The Meta-material Microwave Absorber improves stealth capabilities against Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging by wave absorption across a wide spectrum. Additionally, it provides great defense against radar-guided missiles."
"The AMCA has a distributed processing system employing fast processors and smart subsystems. The AMCA will also have an integrated vehicle health monitoring system, an onboard condition monitoring system, which works on sensor fusion. Such development for the jet was first reported in 2011. The jet also features an "Electronic Pilot" which will enhance the decision-making capabilities of pilots. This will "enhance situational awareness, identify threats automatically, assist in complex combat scenarios"."
These are just a few examples, but I have genuinely never seen so many conclusive statements made about a fighter that isn't even in it's prototype stage yet. I believe much more nuance is needed when adjusting the wording of the article.

To also note this article has serious issues with the sources that are being used. A lot of the text has been cited via EurasianTimes, NewIndianExpress etc. A majority are regarded as extremely unreliable.

Yup. It'll just take some time to clean up into a better state. This is a categorical problem with articles relating to various national military assets we've had for some time now, and not unique to India. We've been through this (and are still going through it) before with Russian, Iranian and a handful of other nations who have unreliable state media sources that original article drafters uncritically repeated in wikivoice, and we've just not gotten around to fixing all of it yet. Right now I've got 10 other pages ahead of this one in my queue for rewrites, but I am adding it to the list (feel free to take a crack at it first though, no need to wait on me). I'll remove information which cites unreliable sources. Per WP:RS DarkPhantom23 (talk) 20:17, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Change the engine specifications and propulsion specifications and also the speed of the jet. 1skywriter6 (talk) 12:48, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Nubzor [T][C] 15:20, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
