History of anal and vaginal fisting?

[edit]

There should be a section in the article about the history of anal and vaginal fisting.

Citation clean-up

[edit]

Hi @Chris Capoccia, thank you for your help cleaning up the citations. In glancing over the changes you made, it looks like they were mostly just minor formatting changes. However, there were two changes that I think merit discussion:

  1. The Red Star Saloon image I retrieved in July 2024 is now behind a paywall / log-in screen. At the time I viewed it, it was titled "Red Star Saloon S.F." and its unique identifier in the archive was UC1STO551521. After your edits, it now simply says "Unknown." I think it would be helpful to re-add the name and unique ID, for reference. Do you agree? Or is the DOI sufficient?
  2. Same question as above, except for the citation to "One Way" (which is still publicly accessible): should the name and unique identifier (UC12333964) be re-added? Or is DOI sufficient?

i went back and looked at the URLs. the one for Red Star had the wrong DOI, but also the crossref info is weird for both of these so Citation bot filled them out with "unknown". Anyway I picked better data.  — Chris Capoccia 💬 00:00, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fisting category name

[edit]

Hi @Zenomonoz, you asked why I removed the "Fisting" category. I actually was the one who created that category a few days ago. However, I realized that it would be more appropriate to use "Fisting subculture" instead, to align with similar categories such as Fetish subculture and Leather subculture. As you can see, there are no longer any pages listed under the "Fisting" category - they are now under the "Fisting subculture" category. Now that I've provided this context, do you agree? Open to feedback. OiYoiYoink (talk) 02:07, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fetish and leather are general concepts with recognized communities and subcultures behind them; fisting is an activity that can be practiced by anyone in those communities, or no community at all. I agree with Zenomonoz. HalJor (talk) 02:24, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think the logical compromise will be to include both categories then, if you see value in retaining the "Fisting" category that is otherwise empty. You are correct that anyone can engage in fisting, much like anyone can engage in BDSM, Leather, or almost any act that is associated with a subculture or community. Nonetheless, fisting has emerged as a recognized subculture, as documented by research studies cited in the article as well as the emergence of community groups, literature, events, and venues dedicated to both the sexual act and social and spiritual elements surrounding it. I guess you can add the subculture category also? But surely 'fisting' should be retained (and other articles added to that category). Zenomonoz (talk) 05:30, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome to add articles to the Fisting category as you see appropriate - thanks! OiYoiYoink (talk) 06:16, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
