Possible AI generated text

[edit]

Concerns were raised previously about AI-generated content in this article. This is a procedural talk page section to discuss it. There is no need to ping me in response. Read WP:AISIGNS for more information for why this is tagged; however, note that fixing the issue requires more than just removing the superficial signs.

The tag pertains to this 2025 edit. Gnomingstuff (talk) 19:41, 9 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Gnomingstuff The edits of mine you reverted were neither AI nor promotional. I figured the edits were fine since I was (1) fixing broken sources, and (2) adding a book review from a peer-reviewed journal. As a new editor, any advice on how to make those sections stronger? Gmedinakim (talk) 22:41, 9 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
"Promotional" is unquestionable: phrasing like the book is unique for careful and comprehensive review is promotional opinion, as others may not find this or any other book unique, careful, or comprehensive. Gnomingstuff (talk) 22:44, 9 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Gnomingstuff Sorry, the first edit was not intentionally promotional. And, yes, I see do see what you're saying. I paraphrased that from the book review, which says "While the social construction of race has been well documented in sociology, what is noteworthy about this book is the comprehensive evidence that Roberts amasses to support this claim, and her careful documentation of previous attempts to ascribe a biological basis to this category" (Menon, 2016). I even put a reference for that line in particular. Regardless, point taken. Although I thought that the phrasing would be helpful, it definitely comes off a bit cheerleader-y.
That sentence aside, were both edits really that bad? The rest of [the Fatal Invention edit] was about the author's main argument. And the second edit was correcting CS1 template errors from citations in a different section altogether. Is this a WP:BABY situation, or is there something more that I'm missing? (Genuinely curious). -- Gmedinakim (talk) 02:35, 10 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
