Brisbane rainfall to decrease ... to a higher total?
[edit]"In a RCP 4.5 scenario Brisbane's temperature will be similar to that of Rockhampton today while rainfall will be closest to Gympie. The CSIRO predicts rainfall in Brisbane will fall between -23% (235 mm) and -4% (45.3 mm) annually by 2090 while temperature will rise between 4.2° and 0.9°."
According to information currently on the respective wikipedia pages, Brisbane receives 1,011.5mm of rain per year on average, but this figure for Gympie is 1,117.4. This is not a decrease of 4 to 23%, but an increase of about 10%. Something is wrong somewhere. Or is "fall between -23% (235 mm) and -4% (45.3 mm)" just a silly way to say "rise by between 23% (235 mm) and 4% (45.3 mm)", because, logically, something falling by a negative amount rises, no? 120.22.66.196 (talk) 04:33, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
