Carolijn Lilipaly werd geboren in Middelburg. Haar vader is voormalig PvdA-kamerlidJohn Lilipaly. Als student rechten werd ze aangenomen als presentator bij MTV. In deze periode nam ze de naam Carolyn aan, die voor Engelstaligen makkelijker uit te spreken was. Later ging ze presenteren bij CNBC Europe, Net5 en Canal Plus.
In 1998 trouwde Carolijn Lilipaly in het geheim met Koen Wauters, zanger van de Belgische popgroep Clouseau. Begin 2002 scheidden ze weer.
Vanaf januari2003 was Carolijn Lilipaly presentratrice van het NOS Journaal. Hoogtepunt in haar korte tijd bij de NOS was de presentatie van het extra Journaal rondom de arrestatie van Saddam Hussein. Hoofdredacteur Hans Laroes roemde haar op de website van het Journaal voor haar improvisatietalent. Later bleken de twee een verhouding te hebben. Begin 2004 vertrok ze bij het Journaal en ging ze bij Omroep Zeeland werken.
