Should we put in here Lenses, wich have only a development announcement, but not officially announced and have no delivery date?

Should we really put in here Lenses, wich have only a development announcement, but not officially announced and have no delivery date? --GodeNehler (talk) 08:01, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Encyclopedic article

[edit]

I really cannot understand how this press communication can be encyclopedic Motopoeta (talk) 05:24, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Table of lenses

[edit]

Important note to all: Please do not expand table above page width.

@D._Benjamin_Miller Please undo your edit - "22:04, 9 January 2024‎ D. Benjamin Miller" and remove unecessary "Format" column. Information about FullFrame vs APS-C format you can find in "Design." column where RF-S = APS-C. Because you edit, table expanded above to page width. Thank you. Condensing Lenses section

[edit]

After collecting everything, it feels odd that this article has three different full lists of Canon's RF lenses: a list with scattered extra explanations, a full table with excruciating detail, and a timeline where no lenses have yet ended production.

Why not get rid of the timeline and the list and add explanatory details to the Details section instead? Serebit (talk) 17:30, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

From my point of view the section Lenses can be shorted - only the first four lenses are interesting as the system startet with these lenses. I think First-party lenses and Timeline is useful, but I would put the Timeline to the end of the page. Timeline ist a nice overview, when which lens was introduced. Moving list to details section: I am not sure how this could work. For EF lenses we had lot of separate article, but most of them have been stubs. And all in one ist to much. In the german wikipedia a litte bit different Approach for the table was used: generated from Wikidata, see de:RF-Bajonett. Best Regards --GodeNehler (talk) 20:24, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@GodeNehler Maybe it would make sense to move the timeline to a template and have it hidden by default at the end of the article, like Template:Canon EOS mirrorless cameras. Either way I think removing the bulk of the lenses list is best. I'm sure there are some lens releases that are notable for new technologies, optics, etc that can be included, but those can be added back later. Thanks for the input. One additional hint: A template with Canon RF-lenses, imported from WD, can be found here: Template:Canon RF-lenses. --GodeNehler (talk) 18:14, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
