A psychophysical unit is not a measure of luminance

[edit]

The Bril (from "Brilliance") is a measure of percieved brightness, not a measure of luminance. There is no fixed conversion to a photometric unit (candelas per square meter for example) because the exact relation depends on the adaptation state of the eye.
