Counters vs Barometers
[edit]There seem to be two conceptually separate topics being combined here. The first is a straightforward and discrete counting of cyclists which fits into a general transport planning / traffic engineering paradigm. The second is the use of public displays at count locations (aka "barometers", apparently) as a more political means of advocating for cyclists, fighting motonormativity, etc. I'm not sure whether it would be better to separate the concepts into separate wiki pages or to better parse the distinction here.
