Vocal Range

[edit]

Does anyone know her vocal range? or voice type?

She hits D7 in "Groove Me". Myke 02:29, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! I just listened to that song, and never realized Ms. Stone could sing so high! Impressive. TamYum 20:04, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Me either. I was amazed. She sings that in falsetto I believe cause falsetto sounds less like your normal voice. 71.139.82.172 04:36, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Angie Stone is a Alto and she can sing Soprano too

Early career dates/numbers

[edit]

In the section regarding The Sequence, not a lot of it makes sense. It contradicts itself. It states Stone formed the sequence in the early 80s when Stone was 16. She was born in 1961 and would have been at least 19 (in 1980). The referenced link does not state this, either. Whoever wrote it has misread the referenced link. Also, the group were actually formed in the 70s and had their first hit in 1979, yet the article states it was 1980. The article about the sequence is no better, and it contradicts the dates, too. Anyone know enough to correct it properly? I'm only getting this from looking at the article, I didn't realise Stone was around back then, I thought she started in the 2000s, and was younger than she is. Therefore I don't feel confident enough to change it myself. 82.14.229.118 (talk) 00:06, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Angie Stone's children

[edit]

Hello Sackkid. An edit war needs to be avoided and Talk:Angie Stone utilized. There is no precept in this case to include the children's names and exact birthdates. Oftentimes, editors incorrectly feel they should include names of not notable children in biographies; however, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, it is not a social listing service and is WP:NOTEVERYTHING, WP:NOTWHOSWHO, WP:NOTDATABASE, and WP:NOTGENEALOGY. Further, per WP:BLPFAMILY: "Being related to a notable person in itself confers no degree of notability upon that person. Articles about notable people that mention their family members in passing do not, in themselves, show that a family member is notable." The children are not separately notable here. Also, per MOS:BIRTHDATE: "Beyond the first paragraph of the lead section, birth and death details should only be included after a name (not just the article's subject) if there is special contextual relevance." (And the names and exact birthdates are NOT RELEVANT in this case, just that she had children.) Additionally, per WP:BLPNAME: "Caution should be applied when identifying individuals who are discussed primarily in terms of a single event. When the name of a private individual has not been widely disseminated ... it is often preferable to omit it, especially when doing so does not result in a significant loss of context" (The relevance is the births, not names or specific dates). Of course, the children are WP:NOTPUBLICFIGURES: "...material on people who are not well known, regardless of whether they are notable enough for their own article. In such cases, exercise restraint and include only material relevant to the person's notability... (the fact of birth is notable, the children are not notable in themselves). Relating to persons in articles, not just the article about a person, per WP:BLPPRIVACY: "...have been widely published by reliable sources." If ... the person is borderline notable, err on the side of caution and simply list the year, provided that there is a reliable source for it..." "The standard for inclusion of personal information of living persons is higher than mere existence of a reliable source that could be verified." (the children are not borderline notable in themselves; however, as a concession left the year). Of course, the children are WP:LOWPROFILE. Quaerens-veritatem (talk) 02:28, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WP:BLPFAMILY is for when articles are created for relatives of popular people, not when they are mentioned in articles of their family members. WP:BLPPRIVACY does not apply as none of Angie's children have contact Wikipedia to request their names be removed from article. Furthermore, her daughter's name appears on almost every Angie Stone album and her son also has a music career. His name is also mentioned in the Billboard article cited in the Angie Stone article so that rules out WP:BLPNAME and WP:LOWPROFILE. The context in which you are using NOT NOTABLE does not apply as that is about an overall article of a subject. And lastly, NOT RELEVANT was used by you. Clearly their names are relevant to the article.
Her son performs under the stage name Swayvo Twain, which was mentioned in the Billboard article. Her daughter performs under the name Diamond Stone, whereas she is featured all almost every Angie Stone album. Sackkid (talk) 02:56, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Sackkid: Disagree with your interpretation of WP:BLPFAMILY, WP:BLPPRIVACY, & WP:N; however, (1) suggest just use birth years as exact dates are unnecessary and not relevant and, though not enough for WP:N, (2) in the 'Personal life' section of the article, believe you should note the information about the children so others don't object per my review. If so, will drop objections. Quaerens-veritatem (talk) 03:17, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I updated it. Middle names have been removed simply because it is not necessary, however their middle names have been stated several times in several magazine and news articles. I also removed their birth months even though her son's birthday is public information, again stated by several magazine articles. I did note that both of her children are singers or musicians. Sackkid (talk) 05:28, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Glad we could resolve this. Quaerens-veritatem (talk) 05:46, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Header paragraph

[edit]

I removed the part about that said "she co-wrote D'Angelo's album Voodoo (2000)". That's not accurate as she only co-wrote four of the thirteen songs that appear on his album. Furthermore, she had a career before him so there is no need to mention him in the header paragraph as if her career revolves around him. Sackkid (talk) 23:33, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
