Alpharad's Talk Page - First Section
[edit]Hello guys. So I originally wanted to post a list of sources here after the Alpharad article got submitted, but later decided that it wasn’t necessary to do so at the time (along with being occupied with school and other projects). But after seeing recent changes to the article, specifically with the “Music” and “Personal Life” sections coming into existence, I’ve now reconsidered posting this just in case more issues come to light on Alpharad’s article, and to generate some more discussion on him.
First off, here are the ten sources I originally added to the article. Most of these sources, besides perhaps Dexerto, are considered reliable and independent, and should establish his notability enough.
- [1] (Early Life - School), [2] (Content - Speedrunning), [3] (E-Sports Involvement), [4] (E-Sports), [5] (E-Sports), [6] (YouTube/Subscribers), [7] (E-Sports/Affiliation), [8] (E-Sports/Subscribers), [9] (E-Sports/Affiliations), [10] (Subscribers/Other Projects)
Secondly, I wanted to include a scholarly article from the University of Brasilia I found a couple months back which compared several gaming YouTube channels in terms of their content styles. This could also be used to describe his content too. If you want to see it, here it is, check pages 56 - 59:
Third, there were a couple sources pertaining to the Plussy Knight debacle that Alpharad was apparently a part of. I wanted to ask if these sources are considered reliable, and if so, would this information be appropriate to include in the article? I’m a bit conflicted as to whether or not it’s relevant to include, but I’m leaning towards no because it may seem to constitute undue weight, in that it might not be significant enough to Alpharad’s career and seems more like petty drama. Here were the sources I omitted.
- https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2020/07/30/remember-plussy-knight-apharad-plus-twitter/ (YouTube/Plussy Knight)
- https://win.gg/news/5084/did-plussyknight-fake-his-passing-question-mark-communities-raise-questions (YouTube/Plussy Knight)
And finally, do you guys have any more actual good sources that support his career? I see that people are now adding new sections of the article with either no sources or primary/self-published ones (which are okay to support aspects of his personal life, but aren’t okay for him being a musician). You guys need to make sure whatever info you’re putting in the article actually follows Wikipedia’s guidelines, especially for reliable sources.
Also, I want to give a special thanks to user @PizzaDelivery4u for creating the article in the first place. PantheonRadiance (talk) 09:28, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
- The TubeFilter article mentions his music career. I've edited it closer to the assertion that he is a musician. I don't think that the Plussy Knight drama would fit into this article, but the analysis one could. Maybe in a further reading section? SWinxy (talk) 20:12, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
- @SWinxy Oh yeah, I forgot that the Tubefilter article mentioned his music career, thanks for that. For the analysis one (I assume you're referring to the scholarly article) I was just gonna weave info from it into his YouTube career section. PantheonRadiance (talk) 06:38, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
What kind of cat does he have?
[edit]What kind of cat is Frasier? 2603:9001:20C:58F6:F84D:18CA:A335:4920 (talk) 23:08, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- I don't see any news articles that discuss his cat, not like People magazine Celebrity Dogs so probably can't answer it here. Does he have a video about the cat? AngusW🐶🐶F (bark • sniff) 01:49, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- He has two cats Frasier and Taylor. If you really want to get technical add Tostada but I'm only saying that because he lives with Jaiden and her cat Tostada (dont forget about ari and tofu but that's a minor detail here) oh nevermind for the type i think Frasier is a exotic shorthair. Jacob's response to this page
[edit]So, Alpharad himself viewed the page on stream, and claimed it was pretty inaccurate. I'll just leave the video about it right here. Hawkatana (talk) 23:54, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Hawkatana: Thanks for the link. I think a few editors have already gotten to work correcting things, and most of the egregious issues are resolved. Feel free to fix things yourself if you see an issue! —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 00:03, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- I hope someone can upload a better picture of him! Cool to see the mistakes have been corrected though! Emilej01 (talk) 00:05, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- He's asking for a better picture again. Is anyone able to fix that? 206.130.209.173 (talk) 22:01, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- I've sent a message to their business email about providing a new picture. Not sure how monitored it is, but thanks for pointing it out! 🐾Nyakase🐾 (talk) 22:27, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Since the photo issue here and at Talk:Jaiden Animations#Photo were the result of the same conversation on stream, should we follow the consensus reached there and remove the old photo until Jacob releases the one they want? There seems to be the same sentiment for both of them of disliking their current photo, so maybe it would circumvent some of the disruption while we wait. Taffer😊💬(she/they) 13:28, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

Fir's hyperlink in "Associated Acts" links to the tree
[edit]Apologies, I'd fix this myself but I'm not familiar with wiki editing so I don't know how. But someone really should. Even if there's not a page for him, it shouldn't link to the tree. Roebro (talk) 05:51, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

okay so basically on a video Jacob basically said he needs someone to change the photo because he doesn't like it so I wanted to know if you could change it to a different one Short gurly (talk) 20:42, 17 October 2024 (UTC)

Switching Placement of information
[edit]Hey this may be personal preference and not really important, but could we switch the placement of music and esports. His music has been more prominent on his channel, having premiered several times, music videos dedicated and with new songs being slated for late 2025. While esports hasn’t been prominent since the 2021. And these “esports events” were video content rather than actual keystones to his career. Thatoneguyousaw (talk) 07:37, 12 January 2025 (UTC)

New picture for Alpharad 69.131.132.112 (talk) 06:58, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
Not done: This picture would need to be freely licensed for use on Wikipedia. Day Creature (talk) 07:47, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- There are two freely watchable clips from their stream where they ask for the picture linked above to be used as the Wikipedia image and another clip where they make a joke about "You (as in everyone) can upload picture from my socials to Creative Commons. I won't take legal action, I swear.".
- They also talked about "how do I do it?" (Talking about the Wikipedia picture) while being visibly confused for about a minute. Though that part is not "clipped" so it can only be watched if you have a Twitch account that is subscribed to their channel.
- Also as a footnote, the Stream is probably going to be uploaded to Alpharad's VOD channel in about 3 to 4 days (as there is a one week delay between a stream and it being uploaded freely to YouTube and the stream where they talk about what happened 4 days ago), so there may be a new influx of people trying to change the picture at that time. Pilomikna (talk) 15:52, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- The clips being freely watchable does not make it fair use. Neither do vague (and non-legally-binding) statements such as "you can upload to CC, I won't take legal actions". For starters, this does not specify a specific CC licence version nor explicitly state the release of all of the specific rights which need to be released to everyone for something to qualify as free-use.
- However, if the purpose of this message is as a heads-up about a possible upcoming large volume of (well-intentioned) inappropriate edits, then thank you for informing about that. It's useful information for editors to know to monitor the page closely.
- SI09 (talk) 10:43, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Kind of both, as of the clips being "freely watchable" I mean it as in "you can watch it for free without paying". Someone should contact them if they really want to change that as it is complicated. Pilomikna (talk) 18:10, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

edit alpharad's picture to this image https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Alpharad_state_fair.webp Thealpharadeditor (talk) 15:31, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
Not done:That image appears to be a copyright violation. Jacob needs to release the image properly, which they've been emailed about. See several sections discussing this same image above Taffer😊💬(she/they) 15:47, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
Image
[edit]Pinging @User:LaffyTaffer Why not just use the image that's already in the article? It's low quality, but It's better than nothing, also, it's already in the article for pete's sake. A.Classical-Futurist (talk) 21:18, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hey, there's more details on this over here at Talk:Jaiden Animations. The long story short though is that Jacob and Jaiden both objected to the images that had been present in their articles at the time. With Jaiden, we managed to use an image of her avatar by her request. Jacob requested a more recent photo, there's a particular image from their Instagram that they wanted to be used here, but they never actually released it beyond saying "I won't sue anybody, I promise".
- All to say, putting an even older image in the infobox when Jacob explicitly wanted something more up to date defeats the point of that image being removed by subject request. ᴸᵃᶠᶠʸTaffer💬(they/she) 21:24, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
- To add, this is why {{improve images}} is at the top as opposed to just using that older photo. ᴸᵃᶠᶠʸTaffer💬(they/she) 21:25, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
Channel name change but not @ change, so change the infobox?
[edit]The TA makes a good point: while the channel is still "@Alpharad" the channel name has been changed to "Jacob Alpharad" so should we change the infobox? I think it's fine to keep Alpharad in the article because it's what they're known as but I wasn't sure about infobox specifically. Realtent (talk) 00:35, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- If thats the new display name, thats what should be listed in the infobox afaik. Alpharad is common name everywhere else.ᴸᵃᶠᶠʸTaffer💬(they/she) 01:29, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
Alpharad never actually requested the photo be removed to my knowledge
[edit]The stream that was used to justify removing the photo didn't actually say they wanted their photo removed. In this clip, JaidenAnimations talks about wanting her photo removed, and then ALpharad followed up by saying their fans could upload images and they wouldn't sue. They also said in this clip that they would really like to have the state fair photo on Wikipedia, but at no point does Alpharad actually say that the old photo needs to be removed. With this in mind, I think the old image should be restored until a new (freely licensed) one is made available. ArtemisiaGentileschiFan (talk) 16:41, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
- "Fans could upload images and they wouldn't sue" isn't enough, but it's worth trying contacting them for COMMONS:VRT verification. Until then, the image stays. Dabmasterars [RU/COM] (talk/contribs) 18:29, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
- I know that it's not enough, my point is just that Alpharad's request for the state fair photo (and their statement that they wouldn't sue) do not necessarily actually mean that they requested the old photo to be removed. ArtemisiaGentileschiFan (talk) 19:15, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to agree with putting the image back. I had gathered from the stream that Jacob didn't want File:Alpharad at Frostbite 2020.jpg on the page at all and wanted it replaced with a new one. However, considering that they never released a new photo and appear to have ignored any communication on the matter following that stream, it doesn't seem to be an issue they have particularly strong feelings about. I'd support restoring the Frostbite photo(but keep the maintenance tag) ᴸᵃᶠᶠʸTaffer💬(they/she) In solidarity 18:59, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
