Name

[edit]

There are 2 entries for him: see also Akhnaten. User:Olivier

Yes but: Akhnaten is the play isnt it? User:Es02

This guy is also Amenophis IV (see, for example History of Egypt). Amenophis doesn't sound at all like Amenothep to me, why the two spellings (or names).

Amenophis is the Greek version of Amenhotep ... which in itself is just a rough transliteration of the hieroglyphic. User:Ffabris

co-rule with Amenhotep III confirmed

[edit]

Apparently a new find in Luxor confirmed that Amenhotep IV, alias Akhenaten, did have a period of co-rule with his father Amenhotep III. A mural painting dating from Amenhotep III's Heb Sed shows both pharaoh's together with their names mentioned together. According to the minister of Antiquities Mohamed Ibrahim Ali al-Sayed, this is an important find. Alas I can only find a Dutch language newspaper source: http://www.standaard.be/cnt/dmf20140206_00967016 Has anyone a English language source confirming this?-- fdewaele, 6 February 2014, 18:27 CET

Centred "around" Aten

[edit]

What are all these points around Aten? It is centred ON. 142.205.202.71 (talk) 17:19, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Per wiktionary:center#Verb:

The indirect object of the intransitive verb is given the prepositions on, in, at or around. At is primarily used only in mathematical contexts. Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary observes that center around is objected to by some people on the grounds that it is illogical, but states that it is an idiom, and thus that such objections are irrelevant.

For what it's worth, I had far more trouble figuring out what kind of issue you were having, and where the passage was that was relevant to said issue, than I or most anyone would ever have understanding the use of centred on in a sentence. Food for thought. Remsense 🌈  17:33, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Citation 87 has the incorrect page numbers, they should be changed from 186-188 to 106-108. Pages 173-203 are just notes, so citation 86 is incorrect as well, but I am not sure which pages the article is referencing. I assume other citations of Amarna Sunrise are incorrect but citations 86 and 87 are the ones I noticed. I can provide images of the book pages in question if needed.  Done Let me know if you're able to fix any more. I was able to access the source online so I can double-check them. Day Creature (talk) 16:36, 20 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! I'd like to ask you to add information about a concept album dedicated to this particular pharaoh to the Cultural Depictions section:
1995 - Akhenaton's album, Divine Symphonies: The French symphonic black/dark ambient project Akhenaton was named after the ancient Egyptian reformist pharaoh Akhenaten, and the album's booklet contains a direct conceptual reference to him. In the lyric sheet and concept of the album, the vocalist expressed the following:
Dedication to the "Sun King": The album is officially dedicated to the memory of Pharaoh Akhenaten, whom the musician called a key spiritual guide ahead of his time. The idea of monotheism and the cult of Aten: The lyrics and liner notes emphasize the pharaoh's greatness as a seer who rejected the old corrupt gods and priests for the one true source of life—the solar disk of Aten.
Through this and the booklet's lyrics, the vocalist conveys the idea that Akhenaten suffered for his light and truth, falling victim to a priestly conspiracy, but his spiritual legacy (the karma of the hierophant) is immortal and is reborn through this music. The booklet is designed in dark yet majestic tones, and sole creator of project, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Lord V. Akhenaton (Vincent Urbain) himself indicated that this work is a tribute to the greatest mystic of antiquity, whose name they tried to erase from history. ~2026-31835-93 (talk) 21:39, 28 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
