Moscow or Kyiv

[edit]

BBC News Ukrainian notes that according to the court documents relating to his 2024 conviction, the perpetrator was born in Kyiv, which contradicts the statements given by the security officials. Not sure if it's notable enough to include, so I'll just leave it here. Tuirse (talk ☘︎) 00:58, 22 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

This is a good article and information from it should be implemented, not just about the perp's birthplace. I'd say it can be noted that court documents say that he was born in Kyiv, rather than Moscow, and information in the article should be altered to reflect the present uncertainty over his birthplace. If there are conflicting statements in RSes about his birthplace, then I don't think we should state either Moscow or Kyiv as his birthplace in wikivoice, but should attribute both of them. Helpful Cat🐈(talk) 06:28, 25 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Names of police officers under investigation

[edit]

I think these names should be removed per WP:BLPCRIME. They are not public figures and they have not been convicted. Helpful Cat🐈(talk) 06:03, 25 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciate the warning. Will keep in mind going forward. Tuirse (talk ☘︎) 22:36, 25 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Other Images of Perpetrator?

[edit]

Is it possible to find any other images of the perpetrator? Mirror.co.uk, where the image comes from, probably isn't appropriate given it's a tabloid, and the red circle feels silly. ⚠︎ ArkadenBoden ⚠︎ (talk) 17:43, 29 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that image is currently under consideration for deletion at Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2026 April 24#File:2026 Kyiv shooter as it wasn't a free to use image. There was CCTV footage inside the supermarket which showed the shooter, but I've not seen any version of it that doesn't have a watermark plastered all over it.
