Revision as of 15:20, 23 June 2026
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request a technical move below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- To request a reversion of a recent undiscussed move: Review the guidelines at WP:RMUM of whether a reversion of an undiscussed move qualifies as uncontroversial and if so, the Requests to revert undiscussed moves subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page. Note that in some cases, clerks, such as administrators or page movers may determine that your request for a reversion does not pass the criteria and may move the request to the contested section or open a formal requested move discussion for potentially controversial moves on your behalf.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page. A bot will automatically remove contested requests after 72 hours of inactivity.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Tirunallar Dharbaranyeswarar Temple → Dharbaranyeswarar Temple (currently a redirect back to Tirunallar Dharbaranyeswarar Temple) (move · discuss) – Name shortening possible, as this is the only "known" temple with such dedication (Dharbaranyeswarar) Drusekoana (talk) 14:44, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
- The article says it's more commonly known as "Tirunallar Saniswaran Temple", why should that not be the title? ⹃Maltazarian ᚾparleyinvestigateᛅ 14:58, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
- Draft:Steps (2026 film) (currently a redirect to Steps (film)) → Steps (2026 film) (currently a redirect instead to Steps (film)) (move · discuss) – There's been still images showing up lately, and a work-in-progress cut was screened at Annecy. ColeFrye (talk) 15:05, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
- Margaret I, Countess of Flanders (currently a redirect to Margaret I of Flanders) → Margaret I of Flanders (move · discuss) – Per recent changes to WP:NCROY Surtsicna (talk) 15:16, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
Automated comment: @Surtsicna:, a previous request involving Margaret I, Countess of Flanders → Margaret I of Flanders appears to have been made before (diff). — ThilioBottalk 15:20, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- The Adventures of Cliff Booth → Untitled Cliff Booth Film (currently a redirect back to The Adventures of Cliff Booth) (move · discuss) – The film has been referenced as "The Adventures of Cliff Both" at Deadline. Variety has referred to it as "Cliff Booth". The Netflix announcement did not list a title, and AMC Theaters listing for the film is "Untitled Fincher Project". What's-on-netflix has stated the film is untitled. Iheartmylibrary22 (talk) 03:32, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- Note: The Variety article you linked to actually does refer to it as "The Adventures of Cliff Booth"; the article was just abbreviating it after mentioning the full title (as it did for the Narnia movie it also discusses). Netflix' announcement article is a primary source, so that's not independent of the subject. I'm finding most reliable sources (even many linked in the article) referring to the film as "The Adventures of Cliff Booth." -- Wikipedical (talk) 16:22, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
- Jennifer Susan Dodd Clarke → Jennifer Clarke (currently a redirect back to Jennifer Susan Dodd Clarke) (move · discuss) – Married name appears to be the common name; Dodd Clarke surname only used on Instagram APM (talk) 23:29, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- Needs a discussion. This article from the BBC calls her "Jenny". 162 etc. (talk) 00:59, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
- Moffie (slang) → Moffie (move · discuss) – Either this or the base page should be a dab, though the film derives its title from the slur so I assume the word has more long-term significance. Nardog (talk) 03:37, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- Not contesting but I created a DAB for now, so if you do continue to believe believe the slang has the significance to be primary, then you can either open an RM or have this request be done by someone else. Note that in either case, the DAB will need to be moved to Moffie (disambiguation). 1isall (talk | contribs) 04:48, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- Contesting this and I've reverted the move of the Moffie page. I think the film probably still has primary topic status, and if it doesn't then certainly the slur isn't the primary topic. Should go through an RM if the status quo is to be changed. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 11:09, 22 June 2026 (UTC)

- Bomber → Bomber aircraft (currently a redirect back to Bomber) (move · discuss) – Clarity of page titles is vital, and the requested name align with other military aircraft types, such as Fighter aircraft. Furthermore, the term 'bomber' is common parlance for people (usually terrorists, though not always) who illegally make and / use home-made bombs (including IEDs) Militum professio scriniarii (talk) 17:32, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Maritime patrol aircraft is another example of a type of military aircraft naming convention, which supports my requested page move. Militum professio scriniarii (talk) 17:42, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Clearly not uncontroversial. WP:COMMONNAME and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:57, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- Contesting and opposing this. Per ngrams, bomber is far and away the WP:COMMONNAME for this compared with bomber aircraft, and also more WP:CONCISE to boot. The other types made need to have aircraft on the end of the name for disambiguation reasons, as fighter and maritime patrol can mean other things. Bomber overwhelmingly refers to this type of aircraft, however, rather than people who bomb or any other meaning, so I don't think any change is required. — Amakuru (talk) 10:59, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- Clearly not uncontroversial. WP:COMMONNAME and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:57, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- Support, as a needed clarification. Per WP:PRECISE, WP:NATURALDAB, WP:CONSISTENT, and WP:CONCISE, the distinction from titles like Fighter aircraft isn’t fully persuasive.
- If terms like “fighter” need “aircraft” because they can mean other things — e.g., a boxer fighting in a ring — then “bomber” has the same issue. It can refer to a human attacker who bombs, or to a piece of clothing — e.g., a bomber jacket — or to the aircraft.
- “Bomber aircraft” also keeps common aircraft-type terms in parallel, supporting WP:CONSISTENT.
- The Ngram mentioned may show “bomber” is a common word, but doesn’t answer the request: “bomber” can and does mean more than one thing in ordinary use.
- Keeping it concise is fair, but “Bomber aircraft” is still WP:CONCISE — adding just a single word. It’s not fluff. It’s doing necessary disambiguating work (WP:NATURALDAB). So, WP:COMMONNAME and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC don’t seem to outweigh the priority of precision and consistency here. Dance21c (talk) 00:07, 23 June 2026 (UTC)

- Divisional commissioner, India (currently a redirect to Divisional commissioner (India)) → Divisional Commissioner (India) (currently a redirect instead to Divisional commissioner (India)) (move · discuss) – Position names are defined with brackets instead of commas. Jamuxe Jamuxe (talk) 16:14, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Jamuxe From what I saw in the page history, you should take this to RM this time because the same move has been circling over and over, starting here and here then coming to this and this and the 2019 TR request, what change this time?. Let it get CON CONFUSED SPIRIT(Thilio).Talk 17:01, 21 June 2026 (UTC)

- Impossible due to WP:NCTR. Tenshi! (Talk page) 12:21, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- Actually, this is possible, but we just need to use {{lowercase title}}. 1isall (talk | contribs) 14:38, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- e-Racer is not possible as a title in the software, though moving it to E-Racer and using {{lowercase title}} is. Tenshi! (Talk page) 14:47, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- e-Racer and E-Racer are the same title technically, so it is possible. I don't think it's the best thing to do though, because the sources seem completely mixed - e-racer, e-Racer, E-racer and E-Racer are all possibilities. Best to keep it as is. — Amakuru (talk) 15:04, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- "E-racer" is definitely the least used variant R. Bardghji (talk) 15:49, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Tenshi Hinanawi That is what I meant. 1isall (talk | contribs) 15:10, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- I tried adding the {{lowercase title}} at the top of the page but it didn't work because of the "Italic title" template. ~ŤheŴubṂachine-840≈ ● ✒️ 11:22, 23 June 2026 (UTC)

- Tornado outbreak of March 13–16, 2025 → Tornado outbreak of March 14–16, 2025 (currently a redirect back to Tornado outbreak of March 13–16, 2025) (move · discuss) – The 13th is not part of the outbreak and not included by most sources. Can’t move because redirect exists that was made during an RM while the event was ongoing more then a year ago. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 20:07, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- Given the multiple RMs had on the subject, this is probably better off being done as a requested move; I think this falls under “potentially controversial” and thus shouldn’t be handled here. Especially since that was a proposal in the RM and was defeated by consensus.~2026-36490-61 (talk) 14:51, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
- @MarioProtIV This is being moved to the contested technical requests section as someone has objected. ⹃Maltazarian ᚾparleyinvestigateᛅ 14:53, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
- 2028 Paris Motor Show → 2026 Paris Motor Show (move · discuss) – Revert disruptive page move. The page was created at the original title (2026), then moved (2028) and redirected to another title, and then the article recreated at the original title. Sable232 (talk) 23:52, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Sable232 You are requesting that a redirect be moved over an existing page. Are you sure this is what you intend on doing? If the target page of the redirect has been boldly changed and you wish to revert it that is done by editing the redirect page, you can revert it in the page history like any other edit. If it's something else the correct forum is Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. ⹃Maltazarian ᚾparleyinvestigateᛅ 14:56, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
- Fjordia capensis → Coryphella capensis (currently a redirect back to Fjordia capensis) (move · discuss) – Reverting to previous taxon following publication of Ekimova et al. 2026, where all genera within Coryphellidae sensu Korshunova et al. (2025) were made synonymous with Coryphella. (As a forewarning, you may see several more of these requests from me; as it is a controversial area, I anticipate at least a handful of affected taxa will technical assitance. Than you for your patience and hard work). Snapplejackalope (talk) 17:23, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Snapplejackalope I'm a bit perplexed here. Are you saying these moves are controversial or what? Because the section is called uncontroversial technical requests for a reason. If a move is controversial it should not be performed without first getting a requested move discussion consensus. ⹃Maltazarian ᚾparleyinvestigateᛅ 14:52, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Snapplejackalope I had the same question as above, should be clarified before we move these. ASUKITE 15:04, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
