Line 19 is an under construction subway line on the Shanghai Metro. Its termini are planned to be Shanghai Baoshan Railway Station and Hongjian Road. It is planned to be 46.2 km (28.7 mi) in length, with 34 stations. The line hopes to ease car congestion along Pudong South Road, as well as reduce crowding on the southern part of line 8, and the northern sections of lines 1 and 3.
The line was announced by the Municipal government in 2016 and is planned to finish construction and open between Baoshan Railway Station and Yierba Jinian Road in May 2028.[1] The south section between Hongjian Road and Shibo Avenue is planned to finish construction in 2028, and the middle section between Shibo Avenue and Yierba Jinian Road in 2031.[2][3][4]
History
[edit]On 5 March 2026, the tender for Civil Engineering Section 26 (Tieshan Road Yard) was issued, with a construction period of 792 days.[5]

[Shanghai Metro Line 19 is a north-south radial line traversing the central activity zone of the city center. It starts at Hongjian Road Station and ends at Baoshan Railway Station, with a total length of approximately 46.2 km and 34 stations. It uses Type A metro trains, with 6-car formations and a line speed of 80 km/h. Line 19 has one depot and one yard: Chengjiang Road Depot and Tieshan Road Yard. After the line is extended, Yueyang Depot will be added, forming a two-depot system. The Tieshan Road Yard is located in the area east of North Jiangyang Road and the Nanhe Railway Branch Line, south of Baoyang Road, and west of Tieshan Road, connecting to Langang Road Station. The Tieshan Road Parking Lot covers an area of approximately 16.65 hectares. The Tieshan Road Yard of Line 19 is designed as an integrated development, with corresponding development conditions reserved simultaneously. The main structure of the open-cut section of the Tieshan Road Yard access line includes a shield tunneling shaft, a single-layer double-hole reinforced concrete box-type buried section, and a U-shaped channel reinforced concrete slab wall open section, with a total length of 372m.
