Draft:Zanarcism

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Template:Infobox ideology

Zanarcism is a fringe, satirical, and hypothetical ideology that advocates the ritualistic or symbolic consumption of one's biological parents as a form of extreme generational liberation, rejection of familial authority, and "recycling" of ancestral resources. The concept exists almost exclusively in online dark humor, shitposting communities, and provocative thought experiments, and has no organized real-world movement or notable adherents.

Etymology

[edit]

The term "Zanarcism" is a portmanteau of "zany" (meaning eccentric or absurd) and "anarchism." Proponents (typically in jest) describe it as "anarchy applied to ancestry" — the complete dissolution of parental rule through literal or metaphorical digestion.

Core tenets

[edit]

Zanarcist writing, found primarily in anonymous online manifestos, centers on several provocative ideas:

  • Familial annihilation as liberation: Parents represent the original hierarchical authority imposed on the individual. Their consumption is framed as the ultimate act of breaking free from genetic, cultural, and emotional obligations.
  • Generational recycling: Eating one's parents allegedly allows the offspring to internalize their knowledge, vitality, and material resources, preventing the buildup of "outdated" norms across generations.
  • Symbolic vs. literal: Most references treat the idea as metaphorical, artistic, or ritualistic (e.g., performance art or symbolic feasts using substitutes). A tiny fringe speculates about literal cannibalism, which is rejected even by other "zanarcists."
  • Anti-natalist undertones: Some variants suggest that reproduction should culminate in this final reversal, ending cycles of dependency.

The ideology is often presented as an absurdist critique of both traditional family structures and radical individualism.

History

[edit]

Zanarcism has no documented pre-internet history. It appears to have emerged in the mid-2010s to early 2020s in obscure internet forums, imageboards, and social media threads exploring extreme philosophical and dark humor concepts. There are no known books, organizations, or public figures associated with it.

Reception

[edit]

Zanarcism is almost universally condemned as grotesque, immoral, and illegal. In virtually every jurisdiction, the literal practice would constitute homicide and corpse desecration. Ethicists, anthropologists, and mental health professionals view any serious advocacy as a sign of severe psychological disturbance. Even within anarchist communities, it is typically dismissed as a perversion of anti-authoritarian principles into mere shock value.

No academic sources treat Zanarcism as a legitimate political or philosophical movement.
