From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vooban is a Canadian information technology services company headquartered in Quebec City, Quebec, that specializes in applied artificial intelligence and software development. Founded in 2011, the company serves clients in sectors including manufacturing, aerospace, logistics, and insurance.[1]

History

[edit]

Vooban was founded in 2011 in Quebec City by Kevin Moore, who had previously worked at Fujitsu's Valcartier research centre serving the Canadian Department of National Defence.[2][3] The company initially operated as a custom software development firm before establishing an artificial intelligence division in 2017.[1]

In September 2023, Vooban received its first external investment from the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ).[1] The investment was intended to fund expansion into Ontario and the United States through organic growth and acquisitions.[1]

In March 2024, Vooban acquired Stratéjia, a Quebec City–based business intelligence and data governance firm, increasing its workforce from approximately 130 to 190 employees.[4][5]

In 2025, the company opened an office in Toronto, Ontario, and announced plans to hire 20 to 25 employees in the province.[6] The same year, the company created two divisions focused on agentic AI and cybersecurity.[7]

In 2026, Vooban launched Morphe, an artificial intelligence product designed to capture and preserve the institutional knowledge of departing employees.[8][9]

Operations

[edit]

Vooban's services include AI model development, data engineering, business intelligence, cybersecurity consulting, and custom software development.[1][6] The company's client base has included manufacturers and banking companies, as well as firms in logistics, construction, and health sectors.[1] By 2026, the company reported having worked with close to 400 companies, most of them in manufacturing.[10] Publicly reported clients have included Pratt & Whitney and Canadian National Railway.[6] The company has also developed AI systems for aircraft de-icing operations.[11]

Recognition

[edit]

In 2023, Scale AI named Vooban AI service company of the year at the C2 Montréal conference.[1] In 2025, the company received the Company of the Year (medium-large business) and High Technology awards at the Fidéides, an annual business awards ceremony organized by the Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de Québec.[12] Kevin Moore and Hugues Foltz, the company's executive vice-president, were named EY Entrepreneur of the Year winners for Eastern Canada the same year.[13] According to Foltz, Vooban had become the largest privately held artificial intelligence company in Canada by late 2025, with more than 200 employees.[13]
