Early Life and Background

Spider Cherry is the stage name of Nathan Mercado, a singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer known for blending multiple musical genres into a distinctive sound.[1] His music combines elements of rock, soul, and contemporary influences, accompanied by his piano-driven compositions and vocal style.[2]

Mercado was born in Shepherd's Bush, London, England. [3]He began playing piano at the age of five and wrote his first song at age seven. [4]As a child, he developed a strong interest in music and songwriting, spending much of his time creating original material and refining his musical abilities.

In 2015, Mercado relocated to South Florida, United States. The move provided new opportunities for artistic development and performance. He has often cited the region's music scene and cultural diversity as influences on his creative work.[5]

Musical Career

Early Performances

Mercado began performing professionally at the young age of 15.[6]After relocating to South Florida, he appeared at local venues, festivals, and community events. His early performances helped establish his reputation as a versatile musician capable of performing both original compositions and interpretations of existing works. [7]

He has performed at venues and events throughout Palm Beach and Broward counties, as well as in other regions of the United States. Delray Beach, Florida, has served as one of his primary performance bases.[8]

International Performances

Music has enabled Mercado to travel extensively and perform internationally. He has appeared in multiple countries and has participated in performances supporting military personnel and charitable initiatives.[9]

One notable experience was a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he was inspired by the country's post-war recovery. The trip later influenced several of his original compositions.[10]

Style and Influences

Spider Cherry's music incorporates elements of rock, soul, piano-based pop, and singer-songwriter traditions.[11] His performances are characterized by a combination of piano accompaniment, original songwriting, and a genre-blending approach that reflects both his British roots and American musical influences. [12]

Recognition and Collaborations

In March 2026, Mercado's career gained increased visibility through his participation in the International Beatles On The Beach Festival in Boca Raton, Florida.[13]

Following the performance, drummer Gregg Bissonette, known for his work with the All-Starr Band and numerous internationally recognized artists, expressed interest in Mercado's musicianship and stage presence. The interaction led to further discussions with Daniel Hartwell regarding Spider Cherry for potential touring opportunities.[14]

In May 2026, Mercado was selected to perform with members of Sammy Hagar's, 2026 “Best of All Worlds” summer tour during a series of concert dates. He joined the tour as a keyboardist, performing alongside established musicians and expanding his professional experience on a national stage.[15]
