Biography of Sri Madhusudan Debbarma Sub-Divisional Youth Programme Officer (SDYPO), Writer, Poet & Cultural Organizer Sri Madhusudan Debbarma is a distinguished government officer, renowned Kokborok and Bengali writer, poet, cultural organizer, and social worker from the state of Tripura. Through literature, sports, youth development, and social service, he has made significant contributions to the cultural and educational advancement of Tripuri society. Born on 7th April 1972, Sri Madhusudan Debbarma is the son of Sri Rabi Kumar Debbarma and Smt. Renu Bala Debbarma. His permanent residence is at Hari bandhu Para, Jampuijala, Sepahijala District, while his present address is at Ujan Abhoy Nagar, Agartala, West Tripura. Early Life and Education Sri Madhusudan Debbarma spent his childhood in the rural environment of Jampuijala, where he developed a deep attachment to indigenous culture, literature, sports, and social activities from an early age. His educational journey began at Jampuijala High School, where he studied from Class I to VIII between 1978 and 1985. He completed his secondary education at Sudhanwa Memorial Higher Secondary School during 1986–1987. Later, he pursued higher secondary studies at Umakanta Academy from 1988 to 1990. He attended Maharaja Bir Bikram College for his graduation during 1990–1992. He subsequently completed his Master of Arts in Economics from Madurai Kamaraj University during 2007–2009. Government Service Career Sri Madhusudan Debbarma joined the Education (Youth Affairs & Sports) Department of the Government of Tripura as a Youth Organizer on 1st April 1997. For more than two decades, he worked extensively for youth welfare, sports promotion, cultural development, and community mobilization across various regions of Tripura. On 1st October 2021, he was promoted to the post of Sub-Divisional Youth Programme Officer (SDYPO). Throughout his service career, he has organized numerous youth festivals, sports events, cultural programmes, awareness campaigns, and training activities at block, district, state, and national levels. He has also played important administrative roles in Census operations, Election management, Disaster Management programmes, Rural Development activities, and literacy campaigns. His experience as a Master Trainer, Assistant Returning Officer, and Block Coordinator reflects his efficiency as an administrator and organizer. Literary Journey Sri Madhusudan Debbarma began writing in 1983 during his student life. Over the years, he emerged as one of the respected contemporary voices in Kokborok literature. His writings include poetry, short stories, songs, essays, rhymes, and educational books in both Kokborok and Bengali languages. His literary works are deeply influenced by social awareness, patriotism, indigenous identity, humanism, and the struggles of ordinary people. His poems frequently highlight themes of social justice, humanity, nationalism, and cultural pride. Contribution to Sports and Youth Development Sri Madhusudan Debbarma has actively promoted sports and youth leadership throughout his career. He has participated in and organized several national-level youth festivals and cultural exchange programmes across India, leading teams to Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Karnataka, Haryana, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha. He served as Team Manager during the 22nd Women’s National Football Championship held in Punjab in 2017 and also represented the state delegation in the 1st Janajatiya Khel Mahotsav at KIIT & KISS, Odisha in 2023. As Secretary of the Jampuijala Play Centre from 2002 to 2020, he worked tirelessly for social harmony and youth empowerment. Under his leadership, many local youths received sports guidance and opportunities that eventually helped them secure government jobs. He also contributed significantly to athletics and cricket development in Jampuijala, grooming several women cricketers who later represented Tripura at the state level. Educational and Social Contributions Before joining government service, Sri Madhusudan Debbarma worked as a teacher and administrator in educational institutions and social organizations. He served as Principal of Sri Gouranga Vidya Mandir during 1993–1994 and later worked with the Ratanmani Seva Mission. He founded the Baithang Coaching Centre, which became a major educational support system for students in rural areas during periods of severe teacher shortages. Through this initiative, many students received proper academic guidance and later established successful careers in government service. He has also been associated with All India Radio (Akashvani Agartala) as a Kokborok artist and literary contributor since 1990, and has regularly contributed literary works to Doordarshan Kendra Agartala. Among sports personalities, he deeply admires Sanjay Manjrekar in cricket and Bhaichung Bhutia in football. His future vision is to continue publishing his creative works and contribute further to the development of the Kokborok language, indigenous literature, youth empowerment, and social awareness.
