I am concerned about the reliability of the cited sources. Stylerant seems like a random person's blog with no editorial control, recommend removal. Alittlebithuman seems to be a smaller publication but they have an editorial piece does some original journalism. However, they also publish articles like "Skyrim Sex Mods Installation Guide How to Install Skyrim SexLab" ????
Declined by Ca 18 months ago.Countere is a counterculture publication and should be used with care. Centreville Sentinel is a random high school newspaper; not reliable. |

Comment: Some prose issues on this one. E.g.: "Darkie is proud of his Indian heritage and shows that through his cartoon character.", "The song is on his SoundCloud." Please update to use encyclopedic tone throughout. Caleb Stanford (talk) 17:06, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Please fix the citation issues stated in the previous declinations and it will be good to go. -Samoht27 (talk) 16:38, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

Joshua Jagan Hamilton (born October 6, 1998), known professionally as Lil Darkie[1], or Brahman, is an American-Indian rapper, singer, musician, songwriter, record producer, artist, and animator from Long Beach, California.[2] He is one of the founders of Gunk Rock, The Faggets, and was leader of Spider Gang[3]. His music features a wide variety of genres, including country and experimental hip-hop music. He also makes trap metal, which the Associated Press says he redefined.[4] His music is described as being inspired by the Soundcloud rap scene as well as artists such as Kanye West, Odd Future, and Kid Cudi.[5] He is often depicted as an animated character he created[6][7] He has released several tracks that have gone viral, especially on TikTok, where users uploaded anime edits to his songs such as 2K FREESTYLE, HAHA, and GENOCIDE.
His other persona "Brahman" is known for a blue character, as he believed the Indian god Kali Ma was blue, after realizing that Kali Ma is portrayed with black skin, he created a new persona Lil Darkie and changed his sound alongside it. He has generated controversy for his image and lyrical contents, with some saying that his cartoon depiction has racist connotations due to bearing a resemblance to blackface.[8][9] However, he elaborated that the character is inspired by the Hindu goddess Kali and god Brahma.
"I can take something that is my culture and is beautiful to me because in Indian culture our gods are black skin in the text- I can take something that's my culture and make it beautiful and you can look at something that's been ugly, that's been evil, and like- I can take it away, and it's not fucked up anymore. I feel like there's nothing racist about this character. Like if you look at him and you're like 'that's like a black guy' then I feel like you're the one with the weird preconceived notion in your head-" - Lil Darkie on an interview with Kult Classic[10]
Hamilton also draws comics and art for his own merchandise (via his website).[11] The character Lil Darkie represents a version of him that is free to express himself, beliefs, and anything else.
"Everyone- identifies as this like weird arbitrary set of rules for for each person to like follow and it's like that's why Darkie is the way he is. It's like a way for me to not be confined to my skin" - Lil Darkie on an interview with The Mars Files.[12]
Personal Life
[edit]Hamiton is bisexual.[13]
Career
[edit]Early years
[edit]He started making music in 2015 at 17, as "Brahman", which the name originated from a Hindu concept of the same name.[14] Originally active from 2015-2018, the Brahman persona is still used for features and producer tags on tracks under the Lil Darkie persona.
In 2021, Hamilton started releasing music under the Brahman persona once again, starting with “invisibility cloak” on January 4, 2021.
Career as Lil Darkie
[edit]Hamilton released his debut album on July 31, 2016, which was available on his now-deleted SoundCloud. He stopped making music as Brahman, but again uses the Brahman persona since 2021.
He created his YouTube channel on June 13, 2019, and uploaded his first video, which was an audio track of his song, "myparentsaresleepinginthenextroomandidontwantowakethemup".[15]
His first-ever single released under his new alias "Lil Darkie" titled "No Hands" was released on April 4, 2018. Hamilton has been releasing music pretty consistently, with some breaks to work on albums, mental health, etc.
On October 6, 2020, to celebrate his 22nd birthday, he released the music video to his song titled "BATSHIT" on his YouTube channel.[16] He released his ninth album SWAMP on December 25, 2020. It includes the song "i can see clearly," which remains his most streamed song on Spotify.
In 2022, Spider Gang released their first and only studio album, titled "SPIDER GANG IS OVER". They disbanded shortly after, but many remain friends. Also in 2022, Hamilton and BvdLvd (pronounced "Bad Lad") formed the temporary duo "DARKLVD". They released two songs, "GAS!" & "TEN FOOT TALL", and toured Europe.
He was featured on Freddie Dredd's second studio album Freddie's Inferno, on the song "Kick Rocks."[17]
In 2023, he headlined at So What?! Music Fest along with Freddie Dredd, Jasiah, Pierce the Veil, Sleeping with Sirens, The Used, Thursday, Poorstacy, and others.[18]
Hamilton has since embarked on multiple tours, most notable being the "TEMPLE OF DOOM" tour in 2024.
In 2025, he started using a temporary clown replacement for his persona.
On July 24, 2025, Hamilton released his fifteenth album, USD. The album is considered to be country rap and political rap[19] and criticizes the Donald Trump Administration on many of the album's songs. He has released 15 albums under his Lil Darkie persona, with some albums such as SWAMP, THE FUTURE IS DARK, and USD reaching beyond his fandom, with many edits being made to his song "GET OUT MY YARD" off of USD. Some of his most popular songs include "HOLOCAUST," "i can see clearly," and "RUN" (as "Brahman").[20]
