Jane Don't (born March 16, 1993) is the stage name of Sam Chapman, an American drag performer known for competing on season 18 of RuPaul's Drag Race.
Early life and education
[edit]Sam Chapman is originally from Spokane, Washington. He grew up going to Catholic school, where he was part of his middle school theater productions. As he got older, he began performing at Spokane Children's Theater and Spokane Civic Theatre, while also taking improv classes.[1] Chapman attended Pacific Lutheran University and received a degree in musical theatre. Before starting drag in 2020, he worked as a barista and in live entertainment management.[2]
Career
[edit]Jane Don't is based in Seattle, Washington. She is known for competing on season 18 of RuPaul's Drag Race, and winning Miss Congeniality during the finale episode.[3] Jane Don't won the main challenges for episode two "Q-Pop Girl Groups," episode nine "Fannie: The Hard Knock Ball Rusical," and episode ten "Drag in a Bag".[4][5][6] She won three cash prizes of $5,000, as well as a set of Away luggage for episode 10. For Snatch Game, she impersonated Truman Capote, and placed high.[7] She placed low for the first time in the competition on episode twelve, and was eliminated in the next episode.[8][9] She came in fifth overall, after losing a lip-sync to Nini Coco.[10]
Personal life
[edit]Jane Don't came up with her drag name while smoking cannabis in college, and says she did not consider any other names.[11] Her drag sisters are Bosco and Irene the Alien.[12]
