Jamieson “Jamie” Pickering (May 1964) is an Australian entrepreneur and the founder of ‘Tomato Technologies’ one the of the largest software providers for Australian Stock Exchange. He is now more known for as a Gold Coast nightclub and hospitality baron.
In 2006 Pickering sold his 45 million shares in ‘Tomato Technologies’ and began his professional poker career in 2007, then by 2008 he was the leading Australian live tournament player in the world.
Pickering impressively made it onto seven final tournament tables in 2008 with two major wins. Jamie was also a runner up in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas (2008) in the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha taking home $145,459 USD. Pickering is estimated to have taken home approximately $583,000 from his live tournaments in poker, but is also very well known for his cash games and the energy he brings to the table.
Early Life
[edit]Jamie Pickering was born in 1964 in Melbourne, Australia. Pickering is the second of eleven children to high profile father Lawrence (Larry) Pickering.
Pickering moved to Canberra at age 4 with his parents as a child while his father Larry Pickering began his career as political cartoonist which led him to fame.
When Jamieson Pickering left school at 16 to work on the family’s tomato farm in Gosford, New South Wales.
Jamie then moved to the Gold Coast at 23 years old. He has been quoted saying “I moved there when I was 23 years old with a knapsack on my back. I thought ‘It’s magical, there is nowhere like it in the world’. And I can see the future. The Gold Coast is booming and it is going to go to another level.”
Professional life
[edit]The few who knew him would never have predicted that by 40 he would be chairman and the biggest shareholder of an Australian Stock Exchange listed company that employs about 100 people and has offices in Britain, the United States and throughout the world. The only reminder of this transformation was the name of his company “Tomato Technologies” which was as a nod to his childhood and his families tomato farm. He established the company which provided stock market analysis and portfolio management software in 1998.
Jamieson “Jamie” is now better known as the “Gold Coast Nightclub King” which he has built and opened multiple hospitality venues such as Chicago, Central, Sugar Shack, Cheerleaders, Hollywood Showgirls, Bedroom, Sin City, Vanity, White Rhino, Havana, Surfers Pavilion, Cali Beach, Gatsby and Tax Office X Boujee.
Pickering is now retired, Artesian Hospitality operates and runs his once hospitality empire to which his family still remain major shareholders.

Pickering was named in the BRW Young Rich List at number 23 in 2004, his estimated net worth was 40 million at this time.
Professional poker player
[edit]Pickering was the Australian leading live professional poker player in the world in 2008.
Pickering has won over half a million in tournament winnings, mostly of which he earned in his native Australia. Pickering cashed three times at the WSOP in 2005 and 2006, all in Hold'em events. Some of his largest career cash was at the 2006 Victorian Poker Championships when he won the $100,000 Challenge. Pickering came onto the poker scene strong in 2008 cashing eleven times including a first place in the Limit Hold'em event. He was eliminated in second place, and took home $145,459 for a note-worthy runner-up performance in $1,500 Pot limit Omaha World Series of poker in Las Vegas.
In 2009 Pickering won his biggest televised cash hand at Crown Casino, Melbourne, Australia. He won $242,000 in one hand against Tom Dwan.
Personal life
[edit]Jamie Pickering is now retired, lives on the Gold Coast, Australia and married with nine children.
