Hitender Sharma (Hindi: हितेन्द्र शर्मा; born 19 May 1980) is an Indian writer, poet, columnist, journalist, and cultural contributor from Himachal Pradesh. He is known for his contributions to contemporary Hindi literature, cultural journalism, and documentation of Himalayan folk culture. His works have been broadcast on All India Radio Shimla and Doordarshan Himachal Pradesh.[1]
Early life
[edit]Hitender Sharma was born on 19 May 1980 in Kingal village, Kumarsain Tehsil, Shimla district, Himachal Pradesh, India. He completed technical education but has been deeply interested in literature, culture, and journalism from an early age. Through his writing and cultural initiatives, he addresses social, human, and regional concerns.
Literary work
[edit]Sharma is active in poetry, essays, and column writing. His poems explore self-dialogue, human emotions, social issues, and Himalayan life philosophy.
His published poetry collection Samvad (ISBN 978-93-93751-28-7) was published by Devyani Publishers and Distributors, Delhi.[2]
Broadcasting and digital activities
[edit]Sharma’s works have been featured on All India Radio Shimla and Doordarshan Himachal Pradesh.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he launched a digital literary platform, Sahitya Kala Samvad, under the Himachal Pradesh Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages. The platform organized over 700 literary talks, interviews, and discussions with writers, artists, and intellectuals from across Himachal Pradesh and India.[3]
