GeoDin is a geotechnical engineering data management software developed in Germany. First released in 1994, it is used to store, manage, and visualize geological and geotechnical data, including borehole logs, laboratory test results, and field measurements from site investigations.[1] GeoDin is owned by Fugro and distributed as software as a service.[2]

Applications

[edit]

GeoDin has been used in geotechnical data management for infrastructure and energy projects. In the SuedLink project, a 700 km underground HVDC power line in Germany, a dedicated GeoDin plugin was used to process and evaluate thermal conductivity laboratory results from soil samples.[3]

The software has also been used for geotechnical data storage in nuclear power plant safety assessments, including liquefaction hazard analysis at the Paks Nuclear Power Plant in Hungary, where data from nearly 500 boreholes, cone penetration tests, and groundwater-monitoring wells were managed in a GeoDin database.[1]

Autodesk integration

[edit]

In 2024, Fugro and Autodesk jointly launched GeoDin Ground, a plugin for Civil 3D that integrates geotechnical data into the design environment. The plugin consolidates data from ground investigations and geotechnical testing directly into design workflows.[2]
