Elise Sijthoff is a Dutch publisher and author. She is the founder and owner of ChildPress, an international platform and organization that supports journalism by children and young people. She is also the founder [[The Class Moves!]], an initiative promoting children’s health and well-being, including , a program designed to encourage physical activity and movement in primary schools.

Early life and background Elise Sijthoff grew up in the Netherlands and Norway in a family with a background in publishing and media. Prior to founding ChildPress, she worked on initiatives related to children’s health and education. She is being described as an idealist and filantroop.

Elise Sijthoff has an extensive publication record covering children’s health literacy, physical activity, learning, and movement in schools. She has contributed to academic books, conference papers, and educational materials both nationally and internationally. ^[1]

ChildPress

Sijthoff founded ChildPress, formally known as the Children’s International Press Association (CIPA), with the aim of amplifying children’s voices in media and public discourse. The organization provides children and young people with opportunities to learn journalistic skills, create content, and report on issues relevant to their lives and communities.

As founder and publisher, Sijthoff oversees the strategic direction of ChildPress, while the platform is supposed to be driven by the children them self.

Children’s press card

In 2021, ChildPress introduced a children’s press card (kinderperskaart), designed to formally recognize young journalists and provide them with access to journalistic settings, marking a milestone in international youth journalism initiatives.^[2]
