Douglas Brown (born 1959) is an American author and market research executive. He is the founder and president of Black Book Research, a healthcare market intelligence firm.[1] He co-authored The Black Book of Outsourcing (Wiley, 2005) and authored The Black Book of Reshoring (Wiley, 2026).[2][3]
Early life and education
[edit]Brown was born in 1959.[4] He holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and public administration from the University of Florida, a Master of Science in hospital and healthcare administration from the University of Houston, and postgraduate credentials in global marketing management from the London School of Economics.[5][6]
Career
[edit]In 2003, Brown co-founded the Brown-Wilson Group, a consultancy focused on outsourcing research. The group's Black Book of Outsourcing brand was acquired by Datamonitor (then part of Informa) in 2009.[7][8]
Brown founded Black Book Research, which conducts satisfaction polling and benchmarking studies in healthcare technology and services.[5] In October 2025, he delivered a keynote address at openEHR's EHRCON25 conference in Barcelona.[6]
