Columbus United FC is an American soccer club based out of Columbus, Georgia. The club competes in the USL League Two as a member of the Eastern Conference - South Central Division.
History
[edit]National Premier Soccer League
[edit]Columbus United FC was announced as a National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) expansion team on August 15, 2023, with plans to play in the 2024 season.[1] In its first season, Columbus United finished the regular season with a 4-3-3 record, advancing to the Gulf Coast Sunshine Conference playoffs and winning the conference championship on July 13, 2024 with a 3-1 victory over Jacksonville Armada U-23.[2] The team's playoff run continued in the NPSL regional and national playoffs before ending with a 2-0 loss to FC Motown in the national semifinals on July 27, 2024.[3]
USL League Two
[edit]After one season in the NPSL, Columbus United joined USL League Two ahead of the 2025 season.[4]
Colors and badge

[edit]On October 20, 2023, Columbus United FC's name and crest were unveiled to the public after fans voted on five potential options. The team name pays homage to a youth club from the 1970s that has deep ties to the Columbus community. The crest "has a retro vibe with the vintage soccer ball riding on the river into the middle of the letter G in reference to Georgia," according to the club's branding document.[5]
