Brandon Chukwuka (born 16 August 1996) is a Nigerian-Australian blockchain architect and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Obytane, a venture capital firm focused on real-world assets (RWAs) and decentralized finance (DeFi).

Early life and education

[edit]

Chukwuka was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and emigrated to Australia with his family in 2007. He completed his secondary education at Charles Campbell College in Adelaide and later studied nursing at Flinders University before leaving to pursue other interests. He worked in real estate for several years, where he was involved in property renovation and management, before discovering Bitcoin in 2021. This sparked his interest in blockchain technology and led him to transition into the cryptocurrency industry.

Career

[edit]

From 2022 to 2025, Chukwuka worked on various projects in the cryptocurrency space, gaining experience in blockchain development, smart contract programming, and decentralized finance protocols across multiple blockchain ecosystems. He participated in blockchain governance initiatives and decentralized innovation funds, submitting proposals for DeFi infrastructure projects across multiple networks. In 2025, Chukwuka founded Obytane, a venture capital firm focused on real-world assets (RWAs) and decentralized finance (DeFi).[1] The company operates as a distributed team that backs early-stage projects building real-world asset tokenization and decentralized finance infrastructure. Chukwuka has spoken at blockchain and technology conferences, including Consensus Hong Kong 2025, where he presented on stablecoin projects and other aspects of decentralized finance infrastructure. Chukwuka also maintains a personal blog where he shares his thoughts on blockchain technology and decentralized finance.[2]

Technical philosophy

[edit]

Chukwuka advocates for what he terms "foundational finance," an approach to DeFi that emphasizes immutable smart contracts, transparent fee structures, and minimal administrative control. He has written about the importance of reducing centralized control points in decentralized systems to enhance user autonomy. Chukwuka believes blockchain technology has the potential to transform areas including voting and governance, identity solutions, lending, microfinance, supply chain logistics, digital art, tokenization of real-world assets, financial derivatives, insurance, and metaverse gaming.
