History
[edit]Awardco was founded by Steve Sonnenberg, Mike Sonnenberg, and Tanner Runia. The company began as an employee recognition and rewards business and later developed software for recognition and engagement programs.
In October 2021, Awardco raised $65 million in Series A[2] funding led by General Catalyst and Ryan Smith, co-founder of Qualtrics and owner of the Utah Jazz. The round valued Awardco at approximately $900 million.
In May 2025, Awardco raised $165 million in Series B financing.[3] The round was led by Sixth Street Growth and Spectrum Equity, with participation from existing investors General Catalyst and Ryan Smith. Reuters reported that the financing valued the company at more than $1 billion.[4]
Products
[edit]Awardco develops cloud-based employee recognition, rewards, and engagement software. Its platform includes peer and manager recognition, employee rewards, service awards, milestone celebrations, incentive programs, and employee engagement tools. The company has also described plans to expand into employee listening, performance incentives, workforce insights, and automation.
Awardco's software integrates with Amazon Business to provide employee reward options. The company has also worked with rewards providers including retailers and travel-related partners.
Growth
[edit]In 2025, Reuters reported that Awardco served more than six million users across 163 countries and offered more than 300 million reward options. Reuters also reported that customers included AT&T and Adobe.[5]
Inc. reported that Awardco appeared on the Inc. 5000 list in 2019, 2020, and 2021, and that the company was also named to Inc.'s Best in Business and Best Workplaces lists.[6]
