Al Dukes (born September 22, 1969) is an American radio producer and on-air personality. He is best known for his work at WFAN in New York City, where he serves as executive producer of the station’s morning drive program Boomer & Gio.

Early life and education

Dukes was born on September 22, 1969, at Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication/Media Studies from Kean University in 1992 and a Master of Science in Communication and Media Studies from Indiana State University in 1994.

Career

Early career

Dukes began his career in sports radio in the 1990s, working in Florida as a producer and reporter in the Tampa Bay radio market.

From 2001 to 2007, he worked as an executive producer for CBS Radio in New York City, producing talk radio programming on stations including WNEW and K-Rock during a period when New York FM talk radio featured nationally recognized programming.

During this era, WNEW-FM included shows such as Opie and Anthony and Ron and Fez as part of its broader talk radio lineup.[1]

In August 2007, Dukes joined WFAN as executive producer of the station’s morning drive program.

He has remained in that role through multiple iterations of the show, including Boomer & Carton and Boomer & Gio, which airs weekdays from 6–10 a.m.

In addition to his production duties, Dukes co-hosts The Warm Up Show and The Postgame Podcast with Al & Jerry alongside Jerry Recco.[2]

Notable media coverage

In 2019, Dukes placed a 911 call reporting a dog fight outside his apartment complex in Matawan, New Jersey. The audio was released through an open records request and reported by NJ.com.[3]

Dukes has also been referenced in WFAN-related programming coverage and sports radio commentary in the New York Post, including discussion of on-air disputes involving WFAN personalities.[4]
