Lots of bands used to perform under a different name: Radiohead were once On a Friday, Blur were Seymour, Coldplay were Starfish, etc. But fewer have changed their name after already releasing an album under the old name. The only indie example I can think of are The Kaiser Chiefs, who release 22 (2003) as Parva.
