Long term European residence

Has anyone applied for long term EU permit after getting permanent residency? With citizenship being pushed back to 8 years and job uncertainty it feels like an option to have to hopefully get another job in an EU country. I’m hoping the approval time is not too long. Thanks

Where to store luggage in Stockholm at night?

Hi I'm coming to see System of a Down on monday, and would like to store my bags during the concert somewhere. I understood that Strawberry Arena has no place to store stuff, and Mall of Scandinavia is closed after the concert. Are the railway station and busterminals with luggage lockers closed during the night? Do you have any other tips for storage?

This is not a politics sub. We understand the impact of politics on the immigration environment. However, making posts specifically asking for people's political opinions has no purpose here and does not fit the sub.

Do not harass, threaten, intimidate, or otherwise be a jerk to other users. This is essentially a site-wide rule, but it needs to be said.

Please discuss in good faith and with respect, otherwise your posts will be removed and/or your account will be permanently banned.

Avoid soapboxing

Take political statements and discourse to the other, more appropriate, subreddits. Reddit is filled with places for discussion of American politics, as well as news about the EU, Sweden, and the refugee crisis- this sub isn't one of them.

This is a place for helping, not for preaching.

Avoid misinformation

Do not knowingly submit misinformation or things you know are false. This can be subjective. However, if a pattern of spreading misinformation is obvious you may be banned.

Stay on-topic

Please keep posts relevant to moving or traveling to Sweden. You can ask questions about Sweden, but it should be within the lens of moving here or visiting. Anything we deemed off-topic will be removed, including but not limited to:

surveys or blogs,
crossposts (up to mod discretion),
any advertising, incl. looking for homes
any easily google-able questions such as jobs hotel or product recommendations. These posts are usually ignored and serve no purpose in helping other users.

No racism, xenophobia, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, etc.

This shouldn't need to be said, but it does. Do not use degrading slurs toward groups of people or each other. Do not make sweeping statements about "immigrants" in Sweden (we are all trying to be immigrants, that's literally what the sub is about).

This has always been a de facto rule here and will always be one.

Any posts that mods deem to be bait or trolling will be removed and the user will be subject to a permanent ban.

Do not advise others to break the law, defraud, or otherwise put them in legal risk. This sub can offer advice related to immigration, a legal process, but cannot offer legal advice.

You may discuss personal experiences, anecdotes, or things that happened. However, you cannot directly advise someone to do anything illegal.

Repetitive & Unhelpful/Rage Bait Posts

Avoid posts that are deemed spam/unhelpful by Mods and the community, including but not limited to:

What do Swedes think of x
What are Swedes opinions on x immigrants
Is Sweden Safe?
How do you make friends in Sweden?
What should I do in <town/city> in <month>

and any politically charged/rage bait posts/comments.

Avoid reactionary political posts

Any post in the style of "I need to get out of the US and come to Sweden, what do I do?" or "I'm a __ citizen and it is no longer safe here, how do I leave?" will be immediately removed. There is a wealth of searchable information on this subreddit and the internet regarding first steps, and these posts only serve to clutter up the front page. Use the search function.

You can still ask specific questions and discuss the subject, but vague 'fleeing my country' posts are repetitive and unhelpful.

Job Seeking / Salary Inquiries

Do not post "how do I find a job in Sweden?" or "what kind of jobs can an English speaker get in Sweden?" These are incredibly generic and vague questions that always receive the same replies. You need to do your own research.

Do not post questions like "how much do ___ make in Sweden?" or "what is a good salary for ___ in Sweden?" You can search the sub for your job title / role and get an answer. These questions do not contribute to community discussion and simply clutter the sub.
