Royal Thai Police
[edit]
Hi, I'd like to include the police flag of Thailand into the flag data page for Thailand. Can someone who knows how to do so implement it for me, thanks. —Opecuted (talk) 09:49, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
Done Thailand Royal Thai Police produces

Anachronistic flags in election infoboxes
[edit]Hello, there seems to be a small problem with the implementation of Template:Country data Ontario and Template:Country data Manitoba in the infoboxes of their pre-1965 respective election articles. Both provinces adopted their current red ensign-style flags in 1965, but before then, neither one actually had a flag. This has not been incorporated into the template data, and as a result, pre-1965 provincial election infoboxes display flags that did not exist at the time (e.g., 1963 Ontario general election and 1962 Manitoba general election along with their predecessors). If possible, it would be nice for their data to include this -- since both provinces had no flag prior to 1965, their election infoboxes should reflect this and shouldn't include one either. Thanks! - Upon a little further research, Template:Country data Alberta and Template:Country data British Columbia have already dealt with this by just making the contemporary variant of the federal Canadian red ensign the alias flag until the adoption of the provincial flag. If the same could be done for Manitoba and Ontario, that would be very nice. -- Politicsfan4 (talk) 05:49, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Politicsfan4: I did Ontario, Manitoba had already been done by the time I looked. Mjroots (talk) 07:36, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Mjroots: Excellent, thank you for your response! Regarding the Ontario data, would it be possible to add the 1921 and 1957 ensigns as variants as well (in line with Manitoba), so that we can incorporate them for elections from 1921-1965. Also, for the one year of 1867 when Ontario was a province, but before the Canadian red ensign came into usage, I think it might be best to use the Union Jack? I'm mentioning this as 1867 Ontario general election needs a flag for its infobox. Thanks -- Politicsfan4 (talk) 23:08, 19 January 2026 (UTC)

Issue with Turkmen SSR flag image rendering on a page
[edit]I'm not sure why, but the Turkmen SSR flag is not rendering as a valid link with the Template:USSR Map on the Soviet Union page. On the template's page itself, it seems to be rendering without an issue. On the Soviet Union's page, the red-linked image is "File:Flag_of_the_Turkmen_Soviet_Socialist_Republic.svg", whereas the file itself from the Turkem SSR's page is to "File:Flag of the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic (1973–1991), Flag of Turkmenistan (1991–1992).svg" so I'm not sure if that is the cause of the problem. Happy to help to try and find the problem, but I'm not familiar with this template, and I didn't want to mess anything up on a widely-used template. Balon Greyjoy (talk) 14:21, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Balon Greyjoy: which country data template needs looking at? Mjroots (talk) 12:10, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
- Looks like it is fixed now and rendering properly on the Soviet Union page? Not sure what the issue was, but it seems to be fixed! Balon Greyjoy (talk) 00:47, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
Option to disable nowrap
[edit]The recent change (from a few months ago) to add nowrap to the template seems to have badly broken the List of members of the United Nations Economic and Social Council article. The tables looked fine in 2024, but now almost all of the country names have broken line breaks. Adding something like Republic of China would resolve this issue. I don't want to have to change it to Republic of China Republic of China and similar everywhere. Zowayix001 (talk) 10:34, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
- It looks like the
flag countryandflagctemplates coincidentally do what I want, but only because they currently happen to use instead ofnowrap. This could break at any time just likeflagdid; a template version that intentionally allows wrapping would be appreciated. (Also, the Template talk:Flag page implies that image + non-breaking space + text behaving the way it does is bad behavior that shouldn't be relied on?) Zowayix001 (talk) 10:47, 9 February 2026 (UTC)- I see what you mean, Zowayix001. Is China<br>China a workable option? Other than that, it looks like you'll need to force the columns to be wider. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mjroots (talk • contribs) 18:09, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
- The table is already at maximum width; making it any wider would either overflow the page or make the font size almost unreadably small. For reference, I'm using the latest appearance (Vector 2022) on Small text and Wide width. Going back to Vector 2010 makes the table look a bit better, but this won't solve the issue for the majority of users. Doubling up the names of countries over 1,000 times in the article is exactly the kind of thing I'm trying to use a template to avoid. Zowayix001 (talk) 20:04, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
- I've created Template:Flagwrap to fix the issue and updated the article (and similar articles) and the documentation pages. Zowayix001 (talk) 02:01, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
