Name of the article should be Notch

According to WP:COMMONNAME it is generally preferred to use a more recognizable name then a more technically accurate name. Since Notch is more recognizable of a name then Markus Persson (seen in the own citations on this article such as "Notch on leaving Mojang: 'It's not about the money. It's about my sanity'". Since 2016 several of Persson's posts on Twitter regarding feminism, race, and transgender rights have caused public controversies.

He has been described as "an increasingly polarizing figure, tweeting offensive statements regarding race, the LGBTQ community, gender, and other topics." ^[1]

Correction on "reverse-engineering Doom"

The article currently claims that Persson "reverse-engineered Doom", however, the source code for Doom was released as open-source in 1997. What the text in the related ref actually says is that Persson wrote a Doom clone in Dart, so that's what the article should say. ~2025-34623-63 (talk) 19:57, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Done I ended up just removing the sentence entirely. Writing a clone of an open-source program in another programming language is an academic exercise at best.
