Shortcuts

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page.

If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. Note: This page was deleted under speedy deletion criterion G12, which indicates a page copied and pasted wholesale from another source, or otherwise closely paraphrased from same. G12 deletions will not be overturned here or anywhere else. The article *was* restored on February 21st and then pretty-much immediately (as in, in the same minute it was restored) deleted once again as a copyright infringement, which suggests to me the G13 deletion is a misclick and the draft was supposed to be deleted under G12 to begin with. Draft:Gell-Mann Amnesia Effect

The copyright violation points to random page on the internet that has as much reason to assert copyright as Wikipedia itself (i.e., it most certainly does not represent the author). Furthermore, the quote used in this page is a small excerpt from a speech the original author held. The speech has not been published on the author's website, as far as I can see, or I would have linked there. It being a relatively short excerpt (compared to the supposed length of the whole speech), it seems like this excerpt should fall under fair use provision anyway. -DirkjanOchtman (talk) 10:56, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

sweet pool

I'd like the page to be brought back so that there is a coherently, well written page to refer to when an individual searches for the game. There are other 'wikis' out there that are either not in English or that are, but poorly translated and/or worded. I'd like to either edit this page if brought back or remake it entirely so that it's a reliable information source for the game.   • @Djsdown: - The reason the article was deleted is that all the sources are about the hotel Sharma owns, not the man. Our policy on biographies of living people is very tough. It is this way because otherwise anyone could write anything about anybody (including horrible lies) and we would have no way of verifying if the info was true or not. You may well know that what you wrote about Sharma is true, but we don't. Thus we must delete the article for his own protection (someone could come along later are write lies about him, perhaps after having a bad experience at his hotel, for example). --ThaddeusB (talk) 15:06, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is an article I'm writing about my dad because he made the first optical discovery of the pulsar star in the late 1960's. I'm taking so long to reedit the article because I'm not an egghead and this wikipedia process is mindbogglingly confusing to me. I'm not a complete idiot, yet I can barely understand the instructions for undeleting the article, let alone the instructions I received for fixing the issues a moderator had with when it was declined. Have you read WP:Notability (people)? I ask because if it is undeleted here, it's very unlikely to get undeleted again. This is not deleted yet. However unless you provide some substantial, reliable independent references very soon, this is very likely to be deleted, and then it will not be coming back. A link to a Wikipedia article from an official web page is not any reason to keep it. You can also add the {{hangon}} tag and explain why this should not be deleted at talk:Mubashir Ma. It's deleted now, and it's ineligible for restoration on this page because it was deleted in accordance with WP:CSD#A7. @SINGLESMusic:, there are no "official" pages on Wikipedia. If you want an "official" page, you have to host it on your own server that you control. And if you are actually this musician or his representative, you should not be creating an article about him anyway, see WP:COI. Furthermore, you need to go to WP:CHU/Simple as soon as possible to change your username to something that represents only you and not your website, else your account will be blocked. ~Amatulić (talk) 23:02, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

List of African supercentenarians

I would like to complain about the article's deletion. I can't see any substantial reason for this move to have been done. In my opinion, the article hasn't broken any of the Wikipedia guidelines. What is more, this article was not eligible for speedy deletion because it had changed substantially since 2010. Both deletions in 2015 failed to notify the article creator or give sufficient time for the article creator to address any issues or appeal the "prod" before the deletion occurred. The article itself serves as an useful piece of information and educates the society, how long can the people truly live on the entire African continent. The list contained 8 names of verified supercentenarians to have lived in Africa, which is not too few for a list. For the reasons above, I am to compain about the decision of deletion and if my arguments are fair, I'd like to ask for the article recreation. Sincerely. Well, FRF is correct that it can't be restored unilaterally. However, I would think 4 years is long enough for consensus to change (Especially considering many similar article) and would recommend a new AfD.   • @Graeme Bartlett: I had created the article Pyspread, and it was rejected for notability reasons. After some time, I wanted to try again. However before I improved the article, I got valuable advice that led me to the conclusion that acception was unlikely at the time. Meanwhile, independent secondary sources on Pyspread have been published, e.g. an article in the LinuxUser magazine. In order:
  1. We cannot use cast listings as a source for anything, since the subject has an obvious connection to the show.
  2. We do not use images as sources.
  3. We cannot use the subject's own website as a source for anything but the most uncontroversial information (DoB, ethnicity, religion, etc.).

I do see that you have a copy in your userspace and I'd recommend that you work on improving that before placing it in the mainspace again. Offhand what I can see is that you have only sourced this using WP:PRIMARY sources, which cannot show notability. You need to use sources that are independent and reliable, by which I mean coverage in newspapers and the like. Official websites/pages or routine database listings do not count towards notability.
